level 10 pts kit..?
tried a search but i couldn't really find any info on what i wanted... as most of you may know, i've got a turbo'd auto accord and need to beef up the tranny in order to aim for 10 psi... does anyone have any feedback or experience with the level 10 pts kit..? i've heard only 1 person say to stay away from them and to go with BTP... level 10's website says:
PTS KIT HONDA / ACURA
This is not just a kit of parts - it is a meticulously engineered System of finest-quality components to provide a "bulletproof" transmission rebuild for severe service applications. Applications include Sport Utility, RV's, heavy loads, pulling heavy trailers, high performance, high horsepower, turbocharged and supercharged engines. These Systems feature Raybestos® PTS™ clutches.
-Fixes early rev limiter max out on shifts, slide bump shifts, no shifts, no 2nd or 3rd gear, no engagement.
-Increases performance and drivability.
-A must for NOS, Turbo, or Super Charged machines.
-Time 5-8 hours. Skill 3 transmission removal necessary.
-Performance enhanced when used in conjunction with I112-2750 SHIFTRONIC, JA313-1000 TORQUE CONVERTER or our BILLET AXELS.
-Torque 400 ft. 500 HP.
-Honda - Acura All 1992-up
for about $302.31 (plus shipping?), it doesn't seem too expensive... i guess the $$$ is in the labor... what you guys think..?

I just had their TPS kit installed in my car. The transmission shop said that it was the best kit they had seen and after inquiring about what I paid for it, said that I got a really good deal. The car shifts noticeably better than stock; firm, but very smooth. I'd recommend them.
i've got the same questions as one clean ride-how much did it cost for labor and how long did it take..? someone told me they got a quote of about $1,000 for installation...
expect a bill close to rebuilt tranny..
check out the web site for protech yet?
just about the price for a 5-speed.
but yeah, good luck with my auto tranny bro!

At 190K, my tranny needed a rebuild anyway, so I had the kit installed while they were there. The transmission quoted me $1600 for the rebuild, but gave me a $200 credit because I had my own kit. I had them install an aux. tranny cooler and top everything off with synthetic fluid. Total for everything including the TPS kit was $1900. I'm building a NA F22 engine right now, but this tranny should be great if I decide to go FI later.

finally, a post that interests me. they've been lacking lately.
anyway, i let you know very soon how good they are. i am in the process of building mine with the L10 PTS, a TCI automotive torque converter, and im going with Protech's LSD.
i have heard more good things than bad about L10, thats why i'm going with them.
by the way, im about 90% done with mine. i cant wait.

by far most of the cost is in the labor of the install, with any tranny upgrade product this is usually true. automatics are expensive to work on, and complicated as all hell if you ever get a chance to check one out.
I use to run a level 10 pts kit and a upgraded converter without a problem for about 20k until I got rid of my old car... biggest thing is to run synthetic atf and a monster tranny cooler (I ran a earls billet one with no problems).
A big thing to remember when making a change to stall speed (by changing converter), do not go higher than cruising rpm with the stall speed or you asking for trouble.

As far as stall speed goes, I have little done to the motor of my car now, and by investing in the L10 PTS and a new tq converter it will be longer till i can put more in it. What would the best stall speed be? Eventually I plan to go with a "little" boost, but it will be NA (and underpowered) for the next couple years.
RABBIT9: yes, Protech makes a LSD for it. its a little pricey at around $600, but they do warranty it. check out http://www.protechtransmissions.com
mugen9161: its really kinda hard to say exactly what stall you need, a safe and good place is from 300 to 450 rpm, or so, above stock. stock on the f22 tranny is 2650 rpm.
