Default Instrument Panel

I need to know how to repair my speedometer and tachometer. I removed the dash cluster on my 2000 Accord to install a set of reverse indiglow gauge faces. I pulled out the needles to the tach and speedo, reinstalled them and now they do not work at all. The temp and fuel gauge needles work correctly but I did not have to remove them. Is the fix something as simple as resetting something somewhere? Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

I think the needles are spring loaded (someone correct me if I am wrong). If this is the case, I have heard bad things about owners trying to remove their needles while trying to install guage faces. I hope they look good, because they may end up costing you a bunch of money to get a new cluster. BTW, why did you remove the needles on the speedo and tach if you didn't have to on the temp and fuel guages? Seems that if you could slip on the temp and fuel guages, you could have done the same to the speedo and tach

yea, that was a mistake, when I did them on my friends car it specifically said to care for the needles, your supposed to slip them over the needles and while we were doing it we broke the temp needle off, you cant put them back on either because the metal piece is so small and it is control by an electromagnetic device underneath the cluster. Look for a new one is the best thing I can tell you....

NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER remove the needles on any Japenese car. They are spring loaded and once you pull them out they are useless. Pushing them back in breaks them.

You need a new cluster. I feel bad for ya bro, you a got a 2000 and it will be hard to find one at the junkyard. It's too expensive to buy it at the dealer so find one at a junkyard or go online shopping for one:

I made that mistake before ( Me). You can put back the speedometer and try to get it as accurate as possible but for the rpm gauge its hopeless.

I hope you learned your lesson. Welcome to H-T
