Default Nasty nosie from timing belt area. any ideas?

On its a b20/gsr head blah blah. the gears are jg light speed and they have scrape marks on the back in a circle as if they have been rubbing some thing, but i cant see what. I started the car for the first time. (new motor just built and sleeved blah blah). But after a few secs it started to squiel (spelling) I fogured it was a bearing but the oil pressure is great and its runs fine. Its some as if it come from the timming blet (exposed) area. its real loud. any ideas guys? thanks again
They only thing i can think of is the tensioner. Ahhhhhhh i dont wanna pull this **** apart again

check your tensioner, if it goes, it's a disaster...
it may also comes from water pump sprocket...

are you sure it's not any of the accesories belts ?

Some do, dont know why. Im actually taking mine off tomorrow. As for the squeal, do check the tensione right away, if its not that double check the scraped gears. You can try holding a long screwdriver from your ear to parts on the engine and see where the noise is the loudest and go from there.

Depending on the age of the water pump it could go bad and cause it to make some noise. Since you just rebuilt it I assume you put on a new pump though.

Did you mess up the back of the timing belt cover that is directly behind the gears? I cut the part that goes over the cam itself so I would not have to remove my gears from the cams when I took out my cams. Well, I did a shitty cutting job and F'ed up the cover and it stuck out and scraped my gears when it was all back together and running.

what about the cover behind the timing gears. i've seen these rub aftermarket gears and make all sorts of strange noises. i have had to cut several covers to keep them from rubbing.

It is the back plastic cover behind the gears that's what you're hearing I believe. I've seen that too many times.

There is no black plastic behind the gears, we took that off.
