Default zc axles

ok, so i recently blew up my zc motor, and purchased a new zc with the zc tranny (lsd, yay), and i need to know which axles i can use. my tranny came with the axles from whichever car it was taken out of cut off and the ends left in the tranny itself. i have heard you can use the stock passenger axle if you take off the end and put 90-93 integra ones on, my question is is this still possible with the ends that i received with my motor?
if this is possible, are there any special toos needed? my main concern is the clamb that holds the boot over the joint

TIA

get 90-93 teg axles. non-abs. that's all you need along with the zc intermediate shaft
edit: I got mine for $65 a piece with a life-time warenty

yeah, i know that 90-93 axles work, but my question was if modifying the stock axle works just as good. perhaps i wasnt clear in my question, but the reason i'd rather do this is due to lack of funds

Are you talking about taking off the intermediate shaft and using the long Si axle on the driver's side? You can do it for the cost of two boot clamps but it would be a big mistake. The intermediate shaft eliminates torque steer. You need to use the ZC inner CV joints since they are 40mm and the Si joints are 35mm. Just remove the large boot clamp on the inner CV joint and slide the joint apart, repack with grease, install new joint, burp the boot, and replace clamp. Good luck!

P.S. Do you want to sell the intermediate shaft?

no, i was not referring to using the long shaft, i was asking if i could use 2 of the shorter (passenger side) axles in place of the 90-93 integra axles if i switched the end part of the axle with the ones that came in my zc transmission (the axles from whatever car it came out of were cut off)

can anyone answer this? or do i need to clarify more?

edit:
no i'm not trying to sell the intermediate shaft, but im sure the place where i got my motor from has them, they'd prolly sell you one, it's right in manassas va, so it shouldnt be too far from you if you're located in va like yer profile says it's called noyan if you're interested http://www.noyanusa.com (their website says they match others prices too)

There are several types of boot clamps, so there are several types of tools to tighten them but they are all inexpensive (less then ten dollars). You can do it without the tools but you won't get it as tight without the tool. Auto parts stores will also sell you the clamps seperately. The inner CV joints that came with your ZC motor are the same as the 90-93 Teg and so you can use the passenger side axle from your car, just switch the inner joint. I'm not sure about the left (driver's side). I think it is the same length as the short right side. Most people just get the Teg axles, but be sure to get the 90-93. I hope that answers your question and thanks for the info.

yes you can but why bother, Get two 90-93 TEG axels. for all the more they cost it isn't worth the work to bastardize a Stock axel to work. THey will be fresh and won't leave you stranded 20 miles from nowhere in bad weather. I thought about it and decided to go with fresh axels. THose have a warranty. And won't leave me stranded to save a couple bucks. I went from A DX trans to 2 Si trans and then to a ZC trans. I used my old axels as a core for two remanufacured ones I could trust for the long haul. You spent extra for a LSD, stand to reason you are going to use it, and old axels are just tempting fate if you are going to stand on it. axels are $75 each at most with a warranty. a lot less than a tow bill if an old one lets loose one night a long way from home.

yeah, i understand what you were saying, but my axles are brand new, and i was just wondering if that was possible, so since it is, im going to modify the passenger side axle, then buy ONE 90-93 integra axle, this way i dont have to dish out any extra money that i dont have. but you did answer my question as to wheter it is possible, so thank you

I have a question for you. Would you recommend doing business with http://www.noyanusa.com/ and what condition was your motor in when you received it?

I got my ZC and ZC trans from them, was able to hand pick it and was treated very fairly, I recomend doing business with them.

yeah, i think virginia_dude told me about noyan, i got mine from there too, just make sure you pick it up, they were a bit sketchy when i asked them how many zc's they had in stock, they told me "we have a bunch", but when i got there they only had 3 ... well 5, but 2 had parts picked off of them. i went there when they were about to close, and they were kinda mad they were gonna have to take the tranny off, so i told them i'd give him 50 bucks more for the tranny, and when i got it back, and took out the axle ends, to my surprise i had LSD!, so i'm pretty happy with what i got, but i DO recommend picking it up yourself

I think their prices are high. They quoted me $ 750.00 for both motor and transmission (no LSD) and I was going to pick it up.

their website says:

Remember: we beat anyone's price.

... so just tell them nippon sells it for 600 with tranny ... they'll give you some "we take shipping into considereation in beating prices" just tell them "thats not what your site says, if thats what you meant you should outline it, and they will most likely give you the price

.. also, i got lucky with the lsd, i didnt pay for lsd, but when i got back, i noticed that the tranny had it, though im sure they never knew it, because the LSD on the tranny casing was not there anymore, i guess it wore off over the years

Well, my setup totally contridicts what all of you are saying, but this is what i have. I have a zc with a lsd tranny in my 91 hatch and i used 2 88-89 teg passenger side axles with 88-89 teg hubs (because mine was a dx-smaller splines). since you said you already had a zc in ur car im guessing you already did a hub conversion or had an si(si's have larger splines). Trying to transfer ends is a pain in the ***, i tryed it to save money like you. But after all that hassle it was much more worth my time and effort to go buy the new axles. they cost me $55 each at Autozone. And like i said if you already had a zc in ur car the 88-89 will fit ur hub and tranny.

The DX and Si have the same size hubs. The STD and HF have the smaller hubs.

The problem with the 86-89 Teg axles is that the inner cv joint is shorter then the 90-93 Teg axles so they tend to pop out of the transmission. The axle length is the same so most people use the ZC inner joints that come with the motor or they use the 90-93 Teg axles. http://www.hasport.com/News/Articles...rt%20Axles.htm

Well when I bought my axels they originally gave me one earlier (shorter Teg axel and one 90-93 axel. Even though I ordered 2 90-93 axels. THe 89 axel popped out enough from the cup that it trashed the inner CV joint in 2 miles, first time I turned the steering to full lock. Replacement axel was the corect length (90-93) and no trouble since. Over 30,000 miles trouble free.
