itr intake box(or icebox) in eg?
there was a thred in the eg forum about putting a stock itr intake box in an eg, but ill phil said he had to cut the legs of the box to mount it. then somebody posted that with the stock dc2 mounting bracket it is a bolt on affair.
i want to get an itr comptech icebox to put in my 94 civic and i dont want to chop it up for it to fit. will it fit w/ the proper factory mounting bracket? thanks for any info

If you want I can take some closer pics of the box fits with out the arms that bolt it down. You may be able to see why I had to trim them. I still want the mounting bracket or to at least see what it looks like I can get it perfectly lined up. One of the reasons the box sits over to an angle like that is due to the air filter not having the neck that the ITR stock filter does. Like I said, if you're interested I have no problem taking some more pics

yeah i could really use some pics, thanks.
dont get me wrong i dont mean to insult your method of mounting the box, its just that if im going to spend the $145 on an icebox i dont want to alter it so i wont be able to sell it down the line(if neccessary). the dc2 engine bay seems to be so similar to the civics that i doubt it would take much to line it all up, but i just wanted to get some reassurance that this will work. i bumped your thred last in the eg forum but nobody responded, so anymore input would really be helpful.

Oh trust me, I completely understand. I wouldn't want to cut up an expensive Comptech box either. I think I may just upgrade to a Comptech filter in this box.
Give me a about 20 min. or so and I'll post up some pics.

Ok here are some more pics:
Here is a close up
Here is no lid: as you can see it sits very close to stock hole. An arm of some type would filter air in perfectly
Here is my ghetto mount- hole is not as far off as appears due to the angle and elevation of the bottom of the box
Here is me trying to line it up straight- if I trimmed the top it may fit better but filter won't line up with arm.
Here is the stock filter with angled neck attached to arm hanging naturally
Overall, I think it is pretty close to the stock intake hole now (see first pic with straight down view) and unless I go deeper into modifying the box or arm its not going to line up with the hole, but may hang over the edge near overflow tank (which may work just as well).
If anyone sees an easier way for me to fit it (integra bracket) or sees something I fudged up please let me know.

thanks, that helped me out alot, is there anyway for you to get the intake lined up over the hole if the arm is not attatched? also, could you cut the sheetmetal alittle to relocate the hole under the spot you have the box attatched to now... expanding the stock hole alittle bigger to accomidate the new location of the box... it doesnt look like a stock bracket would make any difference b/c the box really needs to be angled differently than it is in the integra, you know? thanks again
Yeah I'm pretty sure with the arm not attached I could line the box up over the hole or at least get it about 1/2 an inch closer which is almost perfect. All that it would take for me to do that is to put a small extrension from the filter to the intake arm, and give me a little more length to work with. Other than that, I don't know what the integra bracket looks like or where it goes, but I agree I'm not seeing how it would make a difference. I'm sure though that someone has done it and can help out.

i was thinking that it wouldnt matter being angled but if a nearly 90 degree elbo is needed then it *might* slow down airflow, but i have no idea. i just emailed comptech and i am going to see what they say about it. i have somebodys # at comptech too, i dont have it in front of me but i contacted him a few months ago about a longblock. ill try that on tuesday if i dont here back from them.
im having second thoughts about an icebox though, i might just try to do the diy icebox using a stock itr intake(im 99% sure the volume of the icebox is the same as stock, and i dont think the shape of the cold air tube would make a noticable difference), but we'll see how this pans out.

I finally got off my *** and looked at a Type R and where its air box and everything sits. And their air box is actually right behind the overflow tank, so I can see where the bracket would go. The only thing is that their resonator and piping goes to where the hole from our stock air box is, so basically you're just as well off having it at an angle feeding air from the fender area like in the pics above. I found a tube/scoop that I'm going to try out for a Ice Box effect and may move the box to the Teg location. I'll try it out and let ya know how it goes
