Default Loose seatbelts!

OK, the seatbelts attached to the door of my 91 hatch are so damn gay. Every time I take the seatbelt off I have to hand feed it back into the damn door or it shuts in the door and breaks off more of the door. Is there a way to fix this, or tighten the springs?

Does anyone else know if it is true that they have to fix it for free. That would be awesome, right now my seatbelts suck a fatty.

the door seatbelts are designed to be left hooked up, you're suposed to be able to get in and out without disconecting them. So, to be able to have the belt stretch out enough to do this, they don't have enough spring left when you retract them in. Honda accually designed them this way. Even if they do replace them for you, they'll start doing the same thing again soon after.

Yep, they have been recalled so they must fix it for free.

I talked to the service manager at my local honda dealer today and he said there is nothing wrong with my seatbelt so there's nothing to fix. a new seatbelt will do the same thing. you're not suposed to unhook the belt, therefore, it's not supposed to retract all the way into the door. It's just too long for the springs to be able to pull. Now, if the belt didn't retract at all, or it had a tear that wasn't obvious missuse, they would have no problem at all replacing it.

I'm taking my door panels off tomorow to change my door handles, while I'm in there I'm going to play around with the belts a little and see if there's a way to tighten it up.
