FAL/plexi-glass moon/sun roof for EX/Si -> read.
I don't know about any of you, but those of you who have EX/Si civics, to the best of my knowledge, there is no plexi-glass replacement for our cars for weight reduction/safety precautions.
I am trying to participate in 2003 Honda-Challenge and they recommend removing glass sun/moon roof's. Plus those of you who drag race with EX/Si's, this would be a very nice weight reduction item for it without having to remove the moon roof, or selling your car for a non-equipped moon roof car.
I just talked to Dave at FAL and let him know he'd get a great deal of business because a lot of people have been inquiring about it but he needs the measurements.
I'm about to get measurements from my car and send him all of the information for this to be in production.
I have the EG/EJ (92-95 OEM) measurements and pictures.
What I need is, the EK/EJ of 96-98 and 99-00 equipped OEM sunroofs measurements/thickness and digital pictures, as well as EF cars (CR-X and Civic Si) if EF owners are interested as well.
Those of you who are interested, please call FAL at 800-851-1510 and let them know you would be of great interest for it and would make business. Preferably talk to Dave.
Let's get this in production!

composite materials are not allowed either , must be same thickness/type of metal to be legal
just like SCCA...
.
its not recommended , its required.

just like SCCA...SCCA allows for moonroofs.

open hole and carbon fiber bolt in replacement will do nothing for structural rigidity , metal welded or riveted in would.
and FYI , sunroofs are NOT allowed in the Honda-Challenge...
why you wouldnt fill and strenthen the roof is beyond me.

I was talking to them more and they said to have it removed.
Do you think aftermarket welding/inserts would stabalize the chassis more by having it removed.
I thought Honda-Challege's suggestion for having it removed or replaced (because it DOES say in the rules, if you have a sun roof to have it removed, OR put tape on both sides of the glass.
And also just realized they have add a lot of rules since last year.

No chipped ECU's, and such. Damn that is some strict ****.

and it gets rid of weight in the worst place on the car , up top.
After reviewing the rules more...
It dissapoints me that the rules got even more strict for ECHC.
No chipped ECU's, basically "stock" hybrid is as far as you can go.
I'll just have to stick with the SCCA orginization.

whether its legal yet , I dont know but they are making BIG changes in 2004...
I might be wrong..
but on http://www.honda-challenge.com/drivers/forms/rules.pdf
in section 3.2, it says
"Any OEM Honda ECU may be used, and may be relocated ONLY to facilitate cage installation. Reprogramming of OEM ECus is not allowed."
Then again, in the Hybrid section, states engine management is free in H1.
woohoo, same rules apply

if it was replaced with a carbon fiber or fiberglass piece, even with the metal bands and rivot, this would not be allowed?

I dont know but I'm making the carbon fiber block off anyway , I have the old glass to use as a mold and I'll retain an OEM seal.

Oh, I guess to stay with the subject. Yes, if FAL would come out with a plexi-glass sun roof for the EX, I would be interested!

thats my main goal right now , two options
one keeps the sunroof fully functional and the other gets rid of the assembly.
.what about another company ?
)Yes, if someone would come out with a kit that replaced the entire sunroof assembly with a single piece of plexi-glass/carbon fiber and/or a replacement for the glass itself, I would be interested.
