we just got a 92 lude from an auction today and all of the badges are gone off the car so i was wondering how we tell what model it is. is it like the civics and only the Si model has the sunroof because this car does. if it helps any it has all power locks and windows. power sunroof and the fuel and temp guages are digital. i think that is about all i can see that would be an option or a little different. i cant tell by rims because they have some like 99 si rims on it or at least thats what they look like. if there are any other tell tale ways to find out what model it is please tell me. TIA

 

if your rims look like that...they are regular Prelude Si Rims an't be 99 Si rims off a civic well...99 civic Si rims are not the same bolt patter as a prelude(114x4)civic(110x4) yes u got digital gauges gas/oil temp/clock...so its a si for sure u might of got reallly lucky and get 4ws model..o yea all preludes have sunroofs early generations have moonroofs i believe but all preludes have on of the sort...by my guessing u got a regular Si...only 2 models in US thats the Si model and the 4ws there wasn'ta vtec in 92..i say its a Si becuz 4ws have a sticker on the back saying it and its not a badge u can just pop off...go look on the back trunk where the prelude was and see if it looks like a sticker was there if not ..its problee a regular Si with a h23a1 beast 160hp 156torque

 

93 Lude Vtec's had them same rims
And all Preludes came with a sunroof
Just look in the drivers side door jam(right where the door latch is) Their is a sticker it has all the info you need..

open the hood if its a single overhead cam then its an S
dual overhead cam and <U>doesnt</U> say vtec then its an SI
if it says dohc vtec then is an SI VTEC

 

oh the prelude S comes stock without power doorlocks but all models have power windows

 

look at your engine.. what engine code is it..

 

I think its easy enough to just OPEN the door(since you have to get in anyways, to OPEN the hood)Look in the jam buy the latch(Their is a BIG white sticker their. It will tell you all the info you want to know. GVW, vehical code, and where it was made, ect, ect............

just ask your insurance company. give them the vin (which you'll have to do for insurance anyhow) and they can tell you what model

 

lol or just go to carfax.com and get a free search.type in your vin number and it will tell u your car model ..u just have to pay to see the details but u can see your car model that should answer that question

 

well i wasnt able to do the insurance thing because we arent insuring it. we will probably clean it up. give it a lil paint and resell it. its not for personal use it is for sales only. anyways this thing is super ricetacular. well i know its not a 4ws i have been under it to check for frame damage already. and the motor is a h23a. so if those r the things that make this an si then thank you guys for the help and lets let this biatch drop out of the forum. peace

you might have alreadyt figured it out but...

look at your VIN, if it says:
BB1 it's a vtec
BB2 it's an Si/SE
BA8 it's an S

vtec also comes with leather (90% of the time) and 5 spd only.
