Default roller and tapered bearings on lsd

I know that the different year itr's lsd's came with different types of bearings on them. The 97 had the tapered bearings and the 96 and 98 had the roller bearings. Can these two types of bearings be switched or does it matter which one I get? This will be going into an S1 cable tranny.

94-97 integra came with "tapered roller bearings"
98+ came with carrier ball bearings

they can be switched if you use the proper clearances and shims

Hey Sgt, which is better? Seems to me that the roller bearings would have more surface area, but the ball bearings look like a sealed bearing, just wondering which is better.

about the same.
kinda easier to use ball bearings though. just have to set clearance and not

Any suggestions on which to use in a 95 GSR tranny? My clutch blew out Friday night...and I found each one for sale, and around the same price. Or does it really even matter? I imagine not....?

You only need the bearings if you are changing/installing a new differential. Changing a clutch you would only need a new throw-out bearing and possibly pilot bearing if you change the fly wheel or have it resurfaced. As far as which to use, your car came with tapered bearings on the diff. just stick with tapered for ease of installtion
