Default hmmm b18c1 with type r head

well im jsut wondering , ive read about the ls vtec and b20 vtec and stuff and i have read that the bad part , is that the R/S was wither to high or low i forget , and that stands for the rod to stroke ratio , and the problem with the frankenstein motors is because of their R/S the rod pushes the piston more into the walls of the block than straight up, makeing the engine not last as long..... would the gsr with the tpe r head have the same problem? sorry if this doesnt yeild enouggh info ill try to find more

No. You can't change the rod/stroke ratio unless you change the rods and/or the crank; simply changing the head won't affect it.

there is when you take a bottom end designed for low RPM's and rip it to 9 grand.

always use extremes for examples. The point tends to stick a little better.

For instance, I don;t know the figures and schlock, but who cares. CRV engine usually operate up to around 6 grand. The rod/stroke ratio is designed to best compliment this type of driving and help put down the torque. The Type R head and easily give power through 9 grand because of it's design, plus the rod.stroke ratio allowing it to do so relatively safe. Whatever, too tired

:-P

im also putting together a frankenstien right now, gsr head on b18a. should be good for some alright power. then put some boost on the biatch.

also keep in mind compression ratio- its gonna drop with a type-r (B18C5/B16B) or an Si (B16A) head on a gs-r (B18C1) block, since the heads are from engines with high-dome pistons. the gs-r has ~flat-top pistons, besides the valve recesses. compression loss = power loss
