got a vibrating noise from short shifter
just installed my skunk2 dual bend short shifter and at high rpm's say in 3rd or 4th if im crusin the shifter is making a annoying vibrating sound, was wondering if anyone had the same?
yep... only mine is ebay brand... i think it's because i didn't tighten those two bolts that holds the assembly into the frame of the car... but im not sure.
anyone have some ideas?

ok my roomate had the same problem and the guys who did the install swore that everything was torqued down nice and tight, but we knew they didnt so my roomate made them do it again and lo and behold no more rattling/vibrating noise. make sure everything is tightened oh and did you put in the spacer???
you know what, i didnt. i was just on bseries.net and it says to reuse some of the old parts, now my shifter didnt come w any instructions, but it looked like an easy enough job to do, i mean cmon shunk2 shifter man i payed the money, and it rattles like my buddies ebay one, wtf.
mine rattles too but its the plastic piece rattling against the metal inside my shift ****. i replaced it with the oem shift **** once and the rattle went away.

you need to remove the heatshield and possibly bend the piping a bit. so get to work on those so you dont go nuts with all those vibrations. hope this helps
The stiffer bushings will make it rattle too. When you are at high rpms your engine/tranny is moving around.
Ever see your engine on the dyno? Well same thing, tons of movement and vibrations.

I had Z speed ones and it rattled after the sealed bearings wore out and broke. My new Skunk2 shifter does not rattle but I did need to buy a new bolt as the one that came with the kit was too short to fit my shift linkage. Maybe the nut has come loose and that is why it is rattling. I had originally installed it with the stock bolt but could only get about half the nut to catch. I also don't have a heatshield and the shifter is clear of my exhaust.
Did the install use all of the Skunk2 hardware? If so then you would be in the same situation as me and need to buy a longer bolt. If not, the install could have been made without the half an inch spacer piece? Maybe that is why it is rattling...

I think you need the spacer as it allows you to tighten down the shifter yet still allow the bearing (and therefore shifter) to move freely. It looks like it goes into the shifter but it doesn't, I believe it is meant to only hold the inner collor of the bearing.
