Default center console trouble

i have a 92 VX, and when removing the console, There are two brass colored screws towards the middle under a little plastic cover that hold the two pieces (front and back) together and onto the floor which are as tight as a 10 year old virgin......anyone else have trouble with these screws? any suggestions before i drill the bastards out? thanks!

I had the same problem with my car when I was putting in my new consol W/ arm rest. I ended up stripping the hell out of the screws. Those screws are rusted to the frame so in order to get them out you have to use vice grips with the needle nose. To ensure the problem doesn't occur agian, put some graphite lube in the two holes before you put the new screws in.

No, I used the vicegrips to turn the stripped screws out.

to turn the stripped out screws? what would you suggest then to the scres that will not turn? i think they are pretty rusted, i got one out, and it was so brown it looked like a threaded turd . the other won't budge! I am going to get under the car sometime soon, and see what i can do from under there. Meanwhile, any suggestions are appreciated. thanks!
