please help car overheats and heat is not working
i was driving tonight and i parked the car to get a bite to eat. then when i was leaving i noticed my temp gauge was almost to hot. i thought it was just becasue i didnt reset my ecu or somthing. but the heater is not working either WHATS UP??
ok so it turns out i had no fluid in my radiator. WTF? so now it doesnt over heat but my car still blows cold air. see i have 93 civic hatch and it has a JDM b16, and its been idleing really low latly but no trouble with over heat ing or heater.
OK NOw i its still over heating and the heater is blowing cold air still. where are my temp sensors and what effect would they have if they went bad?

can you help me figure out where my thermostat is? how expensive are they and which one shoudl i get, because nobody knows about the jdm b16 thats in my car at the parts store near me.
-follow the TOP radiator hose to the engine..
-right there! youll see the piece that it attaches too(aluminum)?? should be 2 or 3 bolts holding it down..
unscrew...thermostat right under there..take it out and you should be able to drive without it..itll just take a long time to get warm (if you dont have another car).
go to Honda stealership and buy a normal B16 thermostat...
-or you can get a mugen one for probably 40~60 bucks...

if car is cold, take the radiator cap off, turn the car on and let it warm up, is there any movement of coolant in the radiator? if not, you have a stuck thermostat or a bad water pump.
If it is water pump, do your timing belt as well

You should check the water pump as well and make sure you are only using the Honda radiator fluid. I know its expensive but anything else could cause corrosion in the cooling system.

OK, you can probably rule out the water pump and the thermostat. If you are losing water from the system, you are most likely introducing pressure via a blown head gasket.
When the vehicle is cold and idling, remove the rad cap and let the car warm up. Oh, make sure the system is full of coolant. Check for bubbles. Pull your plugs - the cylinder that is leaking will probably have white crud on the electrode. Do a compression check as well.
Don't drive around too much, you don't wanna warp that head.
Good luck...
