what engine swap is a straight bolt in for the crx? no b-series only d.
i have a 1990 crx si, and it's just sittin (been sittin for about 6 months) without an engine. i'm basically looking for a cheap way to build a daily driver (not going for speed here). does the d16y8 fit in there? i'm looking for a straight bolt on affair, i don't want to have to do anything special, because i'll be doing this in my dad's barn. also, got any good sites with swap prices and what not, what should i expect to pay? i was thinkin 500 bucks for a decent swap for the crx, am i close?
i guess let me rephrase a bit, as mentioned early i'm not looking to be the fastest on the road but i would like to invest in the best (quickest) engine that i can for the crx that's a straight bolt-in. what's a good place to buy complet d16y8 swaps?

if you want the cheapest it would be another d16a6. I'd go ZC myself, bolts right in

you could go zc, but seeing as how all zc's are at least 10 or more years old i wouldn't do it. but if you want the d16z6 or d16y8 then you will have to worry about wiring VTEC and deal with OBD stuff. or you could always go with the d16a6, but those are old too. it is all really up to what u want and what works best for you. good luck.
your correct in saying that i don't want an old engine, from searching and what not the d16y8 would be the best engine would it not and bolts right in, i just need to do wiring for vtec and get a new ecu?
I just did a ZC swap for a kid, he looked around and the best price he found for the swap labor was $700. This is excluding the engine, in the ZC case, $750 shipped, and you will most likely need a header an additional $150. Plus everything you want to replace, it adds up very quick.

simple.
go with a mighty A6
stan
what would a 400 dollar rebuild job entail? what's the full code for an a6? d15a6?
well honestly...if you where going to waste your time w/ the swap, id say to go ahead and get something worth wasting your time for because all honda/acura b series and d series motors will last almost a lifetime if taken care of...but i got a good website for jdm and usdm motors for sale....http://www.jaydm.com/
90-91 sir jdm b16a [160hp/111tq] for $1300....now in my opinion...id go for the 94-96 b18c1 ;] [180hp/126trq] for $3300 or you could just go b16b [185hp/118trq] and do 4600...200 more $ and u can do b18c5 [200hp/estimated 135 trq]....but i think for the most horsepower and least amount of dollars spent would be the prelude motor h22a [200hp/161trq] the h22a swap is a tight one i might add...but dayum that little crx would be zippin down the street, anyhow i think the best and easiest would be the gsr swap...they "say" you can pull more hp out of it, who knows...maybe one day i will have over 500hp heh w/ a usdm b18c1....keep in mind all these motor listings ive shown are jdm stats...cheapest motor is 1300$ jdm...usdm will be a few hundred cheaper in all b series and most d series...anyways, later ppl end my night w/ some car talk...YES!

if u want somethig cheap and reliable check a ZC motor. it bolts right in with no problems... i paid 800$ for mine did the swap myself, it's really not hard at all!
you could always take a ZC head off the ZC engine, and bolt it up to the d15, or D16 block. run the wiring, and bam

personally, with a 90 crx si... i would go with the zc. the y8 and z6 are also good motors that do not require aftermarket motor mounts, but you will have to deal with the vtec activation. however, with the zc... i'm not sure how reliable it can be considering it is quite old. but then again, its a honda motor.
