my girl, doesnt rip no more...
Well, I lost to my friend's 2002 Celica GT-S last night. Did couple runs together, running from 5, from 40, and from 60. Beat me everytime. He always pulled away.
Now help me figure out what's wrong... cuz I should be beating him. All he has is a CAI just like me. he's got 13k miles and i got 107k miles (still haven't changed my clutch). Might that be the reason ? Also im scheduled for a tune-up in 900 miles, what things specifically should i tune-up?
-wires,
-spark plugs,
-distributor rotor and cap,
-fuel filter,
-radiator,
-engine flush
anything else i need for tune up ?
tia

as we started to punch in each run .. he just kept pulling away. by the end of each run he was more than 1 car away, there was like half a car gap between us going for 2 cars. ludester with his 94 vtec with just CAI like me, beats GT-S'. something is definetly wrong with my car.
Will the tune-up and new clutch fix the problem ?

not to flame but either learn how to drive or get the motor checked out.

I don't there's anything wrong with your car, just that it's an older engine and it's not gonna run like an engine with 20 some odd thousand miles will. My friend with a Celica GT-S ran a 14.7 with an intake and exhaust setup, and that was with 17s and a full system in it...so it's not far fetched that your buddy's car could out pace yours by a little...
my buddy and i were thinking the same thing... I just hope that isn't the truth. well ill experiment again after the new clutch and tune up. if that dont work.. then maybe my jdm h22a will rip.. hehe
seriously tho bro, those things can be qwick as a **** w/ just an intake. it could be that he's a better driver also. ive beaten gt-s but who knows? maybe they couldnt drive
A stock GT-S and VTEC Prelude should be about dead even in the quarter, I don't know about highways speeds though, but my Celica pulls pretty hard at higher speeds. Just a CAI will give the Celica anywhere from 10-15hp, so don't underestimate him, with just those two mods it will have around 175whp. The most important thing is that there are too many factors to know why he pulled one car lenght on you. It could be that his car is just a little faster with those mods, or he is a better driver, or your car is running poorly. Don't blame it on the milage, from my experiences Hondas seem to only get faster with higher milage up to an extent of coarse. My cousin ran a 15.5 on a stock integra LS(95') with just some cheap springs with 120k miles on it. BTW it is not uncommon for stock Celicas to hit 14.8's in the quarter, although the 02's are maybe .1 seconds slower, and there have been a couple of 14.7's. Some cars are just freaks.
