CRX TypeR - which tranny to use?
I'm putting a B18C5 in my CRX very soon, but I don't know what to do transmission wise.
I want an LSD, that's 100% for sure, because I will be doing a lot of track racing, and it will also be very good to have considering traction will be an issue (think of the power/weight ratio !!!).
My options are:
1. B18C5 tranny with stock LSD - which means doing a cable-to-hydro swap as well and call it a day.
2. B17 or B16A1 tranny with aftermarket LSD and no conversion needed. Call it a day.
I haven't looked into different LSD companies and which LSD's are better.
Regardless of my choice, the trannies will be upgraded to a Clutchmasters Stage III and its matching 7.5lb flywheel.
Pricewise, I think the B17/B16A1 tranny will be somewhat cheaper, although not too much more so. Money isn't really the issue here. Performance is.
Any comments and/or suggestions?

The perfect cable tranny for road racing, which is what I'm mostly going to be doing with my all motor b16a CRX, would be a JDM YS1 LSD (factory or quaife diff) with an ATS 4.928 final drive kit.

YS1 w/LSD or put in a quaife is a much better idea than converting to HYdro.
the YS1 came from USDM 92-93 gsr's and 92-93 Integra XSi . they both have really great gearing. the JDM ys1 had an optional lsd but the USDM didn't have any. if you get the USDM one, you could always get a Quaife LSD which have a lifetime warranty. hope that helps.
Yea, after a little research, that's what I figured out myself.
Another question I have... is there such a thing as TOO short gearing?
I'm thinking... my CRX weights in at 2020lbs... which is 600lbs lighter than an ITR. It will have the same motor, and rev much quicker especially with the lightened flywheel.
Would the YS1 tranny be too short for track use? I'm afraid I'm going to have to shift literally every second.
