jdm h22a can be smog legal in ca after all..
found this in the civic forum.. seems that jdm motors can be swapped in as long as theyre functionally identical to the original.. id always heard that getting refed with a jdm would be a bitch... if this info is true then jdm h22 it is!

how much does a jdm swap go for now. the little gain was never worth it for me. i have usdm in good condition for sale for a good price. link below, im me for more info

As long as you keep all emissions related equipment intact, I don't see why there would be any difference between a "JDM" motor and a USDM motor, emission related. (even though they're made in the same country) In other words, a catalytic converter can not distiguish between JDM exhaust or USDM exhaust.


i just got my car smog by the ref...they dont check the vin #'s etc...they could careless even if the motor is stolen...guy said let the cops handle it not us..
really? so you have a jdm swap? i heard that they check everything.. since the engine code is h22a as opposed to h22a1 or a4 they would not let you pass-

jdm motor are legal in CA, just like Finest said, as long as all the smog related shiet is in like the usdm model, ur fine....i got mine ref and got the BAR sticker with no problem
