d16y7 swap into 89 crx si?
Maybe someone can help me out. I'm putting a d16y7 w/ hydraulic tranny into a cable ready 89 crx si, I wasn't having any problems untill the ecu wouldn't hook up to the motor harness it came with, only 2 of the plugs of the 3 hook up, I still have the stock ecu for the d16a6 and the original harness. The other problem I have is the shifter linkage, I have both cable and hydraulic but I was wondering if anyone knew of any mods I could do to it instead of going out and buying a new shifter linkage conversion kit. If anyone could help me out with some tips or if anyone has done this swap before please help me out cause I'm kind of on a time limit. Thanx.
well one is non obd (a6) other is obd2 (y7) you'll have to do a full conversion to obd2 or keep your stock ecu and harness...which means you'll also have to keep your a6 dizzy and fuel injectors, though youo may just be able to ditch the resistor box and keep the y7 injectors, but im not sure...since you don't have vtec its not a big deal, some stuff will have to be rewired though if using the y7 harness.

what if I use the a6 harness and ecu and switch the y7 dizzy and injectors with the ones off the a6, would that work, cause I don't want to have to rewire anything.

oh and don't bother using a hydro tranny. the amount of custom work necessary to make this work would be retarded, especially with a SOHC swap. just buy a used 4g Si cable tranny.

Well I think I gonna swap trannys and intake manifold, throttle body, dizzy, and exhaust manifold from the a6 and put them on the y7. Plus use the a6 ecu and harness, so wish me luck you guys an thanx alot for all your info, its been a great help to me. If you have any more tips to give me please add.

if you want to get fiesty you can just swap internals, and have a cable engaged y7 tranny

I have the Y7 tranny that came with my engine and that tranny is 100% new.
If the gears, shafts, and all the other guts can be swappd, I'll do that!
Everything is almost done, I just have to put the halfshaft in, shifter linkage and tranny fluid and thats it, I had to rewire the y7 alternator to fit the a6 harness, but other then that it will be ready to start up saturday, I'm taking a break today. So I hope everything goes well, I don't doubt my skills.

Everything worked great, only thing needed is the clutch to be adjusted. Other then that the test drive went great until my buddy drove it and got pulled over
