Default EK Civic Meets K20 Type-R Power

im not sure if anyone discussed this yet but i just got my march issue of turbo magazine and there is an article about a 1997 civic hatch that has a jdm k20 type-r powerplant in it. The article says it put out 194.9 whp in STOCK trim. Dr. Charles, the guy who built it had one run of 13.2 in the 1/4. Just wanted yall to know if it hasnt been discussed or for those who dont get Turbo mag. I just thought the 13.2 1/4 stock k20 type-r times were bad ***!!! article also discusses that he is gonna be putting in a turbo of some sort later too!!!

Well the JDM Civic and Integra R K series engines put out 215 and 217ps respectively, so in a light hatch id guess that would haul some ***.

I think its about damn time. Hassport did one of the first RSX k20 swaps in a hatch body and it ended up matching the perfornance of the RSX exactly (the weight of the two are almost identical). I was thinking to myself that if they are going to be one of the first and will use the car to advertize the motormounts and other misc parts nessesary to do the swap they would have put the type r k-series in. I don't know about anybody else but i think the prices of the k20 (type r or not) on ebay for example, are pretty darn good. Right now there is a K-type R swap for $4000.. right underneath that is a GSR swap for $3500

The RSX, as well as the 01 and up Civics have adopted the same engine wiring principles as the 96-00 Civics, where the engine wiring harness goes directly to the ECU. As far as I know, the RSX ECU/wiring is a plug and play in the 01-up Civics, and all you;d have to do is mess around with the Engine to chassis harness connections in the 96-00 Civic, to get connections for such things as the speedo, engine temp, oil pressure warning, etc...

Our mounts will be a combination of steel two steel brackets and 3 billet mounts. The axles can be either GSR or 02 Si axles with the RSX intermediate shaft. There will be a wiring kit by summer, and it will address the immobilizer. In the mean time the Mugen ECU works without problem because the cars immobilizer is different in the 96-00 models.

Look for additional information on the Hasport web site around Feb. 15.

Brian,

Are there any plans to make a kit for swapping a K20 into a DC chassis (G3 Integra)?

Although the EK will get a bolt in kit, there will be a generic weld in kit that will work in the DC and EG cars. It will have a left, right and rear mount and new brackets to weld on the left and right frame rails. There is no clean way to do a bolt in kit on the EG and DC.

Allthough we will have a working kit in the next couple of weeks, the production model will not be out for 2 or more months.

UKDM/JDM CTR has 200 hp. Its the K20A motor that comes in the RSX Type S for the gentle men that said the CTR motor puts out 215ps.
