OBDII to OBDI in 2k1GSR... problems, please help.
2001 GSR... B18C1 ...nothing too special. My friend just got a OBDI p72 ecu and we've put it in. Now our problem is when we start the car, it putters and then dies. We have no clue what the hell to do. We've searched the boards and found some random **** about pluggin up a vacuum hose on the throttle body... and some other crap about replacing the throttle body. I thought it was just a direct swap with teh OBDII to OBDI harness... Car is sitting itn the garage right now.... please help. Thanks in advance

are you getting any check engine lights at all ? and if so, do you know how to chiggedy check the check engine light, chuck?
Have you completely checked the wiring? It is always a good idea to check the wiring to make sure that a given ECU plug pin matches up with the correct pin on the correct plug under the hood.
Did you get a OBD2a to OBD1 conversion harness or an OBD2 to OBD1 conversion harness.
Your 2001 GSR is OBD2a and could be your problem.
Just a thought.

Your OBD2 motor has several extra items that are not used with your OBD1 harness...ie second O2 sensor,Crank fluctuation sensor (CFS) Look at these items and from previos experience I once reversed the plugs for the MAP and the TPS sensors..Not Good
The person who made your harness may not have considered the fact that the fuel pump relay wire is in a different spot on the '00-'01 Integras as compared to the '99-'00 Civics. The ECU conversion harness that these cars looks the same with the exception of one wire. All of my harnesses for OBD2v2 to OBD1 take this wire into consideration and work on both the '99-'00 Civics and the '00-'01 Integras.
If the above is not correct another possibility is that the EVAP purge solenoid is still connected which can cause hard starts. I wrote a small artice addressing this issue. George Knighton has a copy of it.
A way to test to see if the fuel pump relay is wired correctly in the harness is to do a continuity test using a digital multimeter between A15 (OBD2 side) and A7 (OBD1 male plug side). If there is continuity then unplug your EVAP purge solenoid and you will have no problems starting the car. If there is not continuity you can move the wire on your OBD2 ECU plug from A15 to A16 and your car will start.
Here's the deal:
'99-'00 Civic has the fuel pump relay wire at A16
'00-'01 Integras have the fuel pump relay wire at A15
If this wire is not hooked up the fuel pump will not work. Hence, your car may start from the residual fuel in the system but will soon stall out due to lack of fuel from the fuel pump not running.
Good luck and don't forget to address the fact that the OBD1 GS-R ECU uses a negative trigger for the IAB and your OBD2 GS-R ECU used a positive trigger for the IAB to activate/open the secondary runners in the intake manifold.

Well we found out that our friend who was working on header/cat area...forgot to hook the o2 sensor up. We did that...thinking that was the rattle lowered teh car down...started teh car...and it started fine and runs fine now.....*shrugs*....the rattle is still there tho..
