torque for valve cover nuts?
helms mentions 7.2 ft*lbs for cap bolts (or similar), but the diagram seemed off and that sounds awfully light.
does anyone know the torque specs for the valve cover nuts?
fyi, it says the valve adjustment nut should be torqued to 18 ft*lbs.

Don't overtorque those, they will break easily.
I don't have my helms handy right now, but remembering tightening down a friend's valve cover, it was very low.
I remember it being less than 8ft-lbs, so 7.2 sounds right.
Even overtorque-ing a little bit will cause damage.

ok, i was reading it correctly then. i will soon have a torque wrench for use in 100in*lbs - 600in*lbs (8.3-50ft*lbs), but even this won't help. no problem, i'll stick with handtight.
Just tighten till snug. No need for a torque wrench on that. I only use a torque wrench when putting on a head, cam caps, or doing work on the internals of a block. Everything else is by feel.
