CEL code 1, oxygen sensor, do i need a new one or what?
i was getting on it hardcore today, about 115 or so, then when i started decelerating the CE light came on. i went home and checked it, it threw code 1 which is oxygen sensor. does this mean i have to replace mine or what? Oh ya, i shift before the needle hits the red (around 6100rpm) so i don't abuse it in that sense. i did a search already also. thanks for your help guys.
If it's the original sensor, you probably need a new one. The ECU will code it if there is no activity over a period of time, or out of range reports from the O2 sensor. There's always the posibility you have a fuel or ignition problem that is causing the O2 sensor to be out of range, but you should notice those problems.
hmm...i'm not getting bad gas mileage or any performence loss so i don't think the sensor is bad....could it be maybe if i'm getting on it it gets a faulty reading and just throws the code and that's all? cause it doesn't act like anything is wrong.
my car is in my sig....93 accord ex
and how do i test it? it's not getting bad gas mileage so that's why i was saying i don't think it's bad.

So you have a 91 or 93? what is it?
Not that it matters.
My o2 went out around 160,000 and caused, rough idle and lots of hesitation. You should disconect the battery for a couple minutes to clear the ecu, then drive the car like normal and see if the cel comes back on. If it does you should go ahead and replace it, I got a replacement from napa, and will check and see how much it was, but you should just call a couple local parts suppliers, and find out who has the best price.
