Default RSX lease...?

Dunno if this is the right place for this, but I'm just looking into my options for a new car. Do dealerships do leases on the RSX-S? I'm usually against leasing, but it seems like it might work out well for me right now if that's an option. If anybody has a lease on one, what are some of the basics to it? As in, what mods can you get away with, etc etc?

If this is too OT, go ahead and delete it; just looking for some quick answers.

Yeah...I was planning on doing that tomorrow, I just thought I'd get a feel for what other people are doing before I go in and the dealer tries to screw me. If any of you live in Rochester, and have been to John Holtz (only Acura dealer around), you'll know what I mean

What I recomend is if you are going to get a least get a short term if possible. I leased my car and had a four year agreement. The more I thought about it the more I wanted to get out. I mean, there are some advantages. I would lease a car again only if I do a year or two year contract. Not a 4 to five year. In that case you should buy the car.

Hopefully this info helps

Leasing isn't for everyone - there are a lot factors to consider.
Do you drive more than 15k miles/year? Do you usually take good care of your car? Do you have $$ to put down on a loan, or would you prefer not putting it down? Do you plan on heavily modding your car? How long do you usually keep a car?

Keys to leasing -
-do Closed End leases only - put in writing the residual value, so you know what you will pay if you want to buy at lease end. This protects you, so that if the car depreciates a lot more than the residual value in the contract, you can just give them the keys at lease end and walk away, so they eat the loss. If it depreciates less than the residual, you can buy it for residual, sell it, and make a profit (rarely happens, but I made $1800 this way on a 1989 Integra awhile ago).
-Make sure the lease includes GAP coverage - if you wreck your car, this protects you for what your insurance doesn't cover up to the true value of the car
-Don't put a lot of $$ down (if any) on a lease - you are paying for the depreciation of the car over the term of the lease, plus a premium (leasing co. profit), but it's better for you to invest the $$ than to put into a downpayment to reduce your monthly lease fee.
-Leases are generally VERY negotiable. The dealer will start with a ridiculous price as a starting offer.

My .02 - hope it helps.

Well, the reason I'm thinking about a lease is....I bought my first car a year ago, and have put a ton of miles on it, to the point where in a year or so it's not going to be worth much at all. If I were to sell it and use the money to make lease payments, I would be breaking even, and would have gotten an extra couple years and free maintenance out of the original money I spent on the first car.

I put WAY more than 15k a year on, but I was hoping to learn to keep the miles down. Is there no way at all to get more than a 15,000mile/year lease?

I hope you have very good discipline on miles man. I had a lease as well, and I thought I could keep it under 15k. At the end I put 25k in a year. I loved that car so much I couldn't get out of it, just kept driving. Also if you get a lease try not to put to much money down if any because they pocket that money.

Why can't you buy the car? Payments?

Well...I can't buy the car because I'm only 19, and my parents bought me my first car (yeah yeah, spoiled and all that...it's just a 99 Grand Am), and if I got something more expensive, my parents would have to cover it because they pay cash for things (since it's cheaper in the end). Even if I was paying them back, they'd hold it over my head. I'm thinking at the end of 3 years I might be in a better position to buy out the car myself. Miles are definitely gonna be trouble though, I can't believe they don't offer like a 25k/year lease.

Edit: my first car is used, so 10 grand would be about what I'd have to work with. I found an older GSR, but they seem to want me to find something newer...which is why leasing seems like an ok option. 3 years from now that GA won't be worth anything anyway (it's already got problems).

So if anybody knows anything....like, can I get away with having bolt ons on there? I don't wanna ask the dealer that, they'll just think I'm some kid that wants to smote the hell out of their car.
