Default Ls/Vtec or Ls turbo Which one

I have a crx 91 and i was wondering which would be better....do an Ls/Vtec conversion or should I just drop in the Ls engine and put a drag turbo kit or a greddy turbo kit on it. Ls/vtec is said to have high compression and more tq. although a Ls engine with turbo will also be benifical.......does any1 have any ideas??

Do You think that i would have to upgrade internals and other things such as throttle body and intake manifold to a skunk2 intake manifold.

I want to change pistons and rods. Also port and polish the head add new performance valves, springs, and retainers. I also wanna put a skunk2 intake manifold and a bigger throttle body. And I wanna change the camshafts and cams.

Here is my opinion that I will spew forever.

Buy a B18c5. If your going to LS (B18b was 2800 full swap for me) plus turbo (about 3k after all the goodies) you could have a C5. In an EF you could run a low 13 stock with a c5.

AND NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT BREAKING OR BLOWING UP!!!!!!!!

That is a direct reccomendation from a really great engine builder I know. They built a gsr drag car (10.88). He said that after they ported the hell out of the gsr head it still didnt have the flow of the type R head. Not only that but the C5 comes with dual springs and the best of everything honda has to offer. You cant beat it.

Im telling ya' C5!!!

personally, i have a HUGE reliability problem with the ls/vtec conversion. I've heard nothing but bad things about it, and the only honda motors I hear of blowing up are the ls/vtec conversions. If it was such a good idea, Honda would have done it. Turbo your ls, sir

I'm so sick of the "well if is so great then honda would have done it" arguement. It is like saying turbos suck... i mean if they were so good then honda would have done it right?? Come on!! They make their cars and motors with the average consumer in mind. They didn't make a factory version of the lsvtec because it wouldn't last the 200,000 miles a b16 would. Well i'll take the extra performance and redo my motor every 100,000 miles. Because i'm not the average consumer, I'm a car enthusiast.

The people you know who built these lsvtec's that blow probly did a shitty half assed job. i have heard of more people blowing motors with turbo's that hybrid motors. i'm not saying lsvtec is mor reliable then turbo, i'm saying that it all comes down to building properly no matter what your using.

Another thing, look at you. You have a b16 in your crx, wow how creative. Pull your head out of your *** and learn that theres better ways to do things. Instead of spending 400 bux on just ONE of your shitty na mods in your sig, you could have bought an ls shortblock and be making probably 20-30 more hp then you are now. Oh wait, thats right to build a motor you have to actually knowwhat your doing......so maybe you did choose the right path.
