No.

You have to alter your air/fuel ratio to be less rich.

Reduce fuel pressure and/or check your ignition system.

What are your mods? Have you altered your air/fuel ratio, fbr used, etc? Remember Hondas run rich from the factory. I don't have an R, but on my 00 SI I have only AEM CAI and APEXi N1 catback and I start to get some black soot near the muffler and on the rear bumper. It's not a considerable amount, but over time, especially using VTEC your gonna get some exhaust residue.

Try resetting your ECU and letting your car idle for a little bit...?

What's with everyone? He said 'all I have is a CAI'.

Black on the bumper is from running rich. Where's the confusion?

If you are really worried about it, maybe the rings are going. You could check that out. Personally, I'd say it's just from running rich. How are you driving? After one track day (starting with a clean car), I had black all over my bumper and inside of my wing. Why? Running rich!! The only way to stop it is to tune, lean out the fuel a bit... or stop driving so hard.

Looks familiar, like all stock itr a/f ratios: a 'little' rich on top.
