Legalizing a swap?
My friend wants to swap an h22 in his accord. He is worried because of the legalities of it. I heard that you can go through a state ref and get it legalized. We live in so cal. If anyone can give info on how the state ref works or any other legalities it would be much appreciated. Thx
from what i hear the engine must be the same or newer than the car or something like that. go from there and have papers that show the engine was bought or owned legally.
yes u have to get a swap with motor of same year or newer. then u can either take it to chp or a ref. they will do both visual and something like a dyno. so dont **** with emission. then they will check ur vin and motor serial number and so on to make sure u got the motor legally. then they will run it thru dmv and u'll get some documents either thru mail or rite away.

So this will work with a prelude motor into an accord? It doesnt have to be the same motor as you had before?
yes u can stick a swap from another donor. domestic guys do it all the time with their "350 big blocks" or some **** like that. nothing wrong or illegal about that.
