Default Need help right away, having problems

So I just got my car back from the shop getting my timing belt, distributor, and map sensor replaced. That was a good 1000 dollars.

It runs fine for about the first 15 minutes. But soon it begins to hesitate really bad when I shift. I'll shift into 2nd at about 15 MPH which is probably 3k rpm on my car being a civic std. and I'll floor it in second just because it's the only way to get it to go at all. Usually it accelerates smoothly, not quickly, but smoothly. Now it jumps and shakes until it gets to 25 mph.

I've taken it back 4 times. The mechanic that worked on my car says both I and the other mechanics need to learn to drive clutch, and that it will be fine. But I drive long distances and can't risk my car breaking down.

Does anyone know what this could be? I'm going in tomorrow to raise hell so any information I can obtain will be gold.

He also mentioned my clutch may be going bad. If it were going bad, it wouldn't go from running good to running like crap in 15 minutes and then running fine the next day.

I don't know what to do. 1000 dollars is alot, it should be running perfectly. So please. if ANYBODY can help Please help!

Hey man whats up? Was this a Honda Dealer or private shop? Well anyways, that has nothing to do with your clutch, stuttering and the like. A bad clutch only makes rpm's rise when you press the gas but you wont be accelerating much at all, it appears as if the car is in neutral. The problem is MOST LIKELY, a bad O2 sensor, fucked fuel map, or seriously fucked timing. It is the shops fault, have them fix it or call the better business beaure and sue.

Hey just a thought btw, try pulling your ecu fuse under the hood, and then put it back in after a minute. The ecu may have needed to be reset, it wont hurt anything ele so its worth a shot.

It makes sense that it may be the timing considering i just got it replaced. It's a private shop, my friend's shop actually. But it works fine for awhile, and then gets really bad progressively. So I dunno, I'm gonna have to drive it around before I take it in, I'm gonna show the owner and be like your mechanic doesn't know crap. So yes, if anyone else wants to comment, I'm all ears or eyes.. whichever

See Standard, the problem is probably only about 15 peeps out of the thousands who post here are qualified to answer a question like that directly enough to make progress at solving the problem. If you hadn't taken it to a shop and were having this problem i would say first reset the ecu. Drive around.. If that doesnt work, get a timing light and make sure its correct. If that doesn't work check your o2 sensors. (mine used to act like it wanted to die when flooring it in second from a bad o2). If that doesn't work, make absoulutely sure everything is absolutely perfect with the new map that was put in.

HOWEVER, because a shop did, let them fok with it, working on cars is fun, trying to fix them is not....so hand it over again.

When they changed the timing belt, did they change the water pump (they should have)? If they changed the water pump, I bet that they did not bleed the air out of the coolant system which will make the temp sensor go crazy and make your car act weird after it starts to warm up.

Otherwise check the ignition timing, the cam timing, the O2 sensor, reset the ECU.

So your one of the 15 I take it??
Well I am kind of in the same situation as yourself only mine stutters even when I am sitting still. I have replaced all sorts of the normal tune up stuff like the cap, rotor, plugs, wires O2 sensor, fuel filter, and also the pcv valve and it didnt help at all. I am going to be looking into replacing either my coil or my ignitor<~~(known to go bad on hondas) or possible both??!! I have spare coil that I am going to try out and if that doesnt help I will then replace the ignitor. I dont know how soon your looking at getting this fixed but I should be doing all of this either tomorrow or the next day and I will let you know if any of those fixed my problem. Otherwise I would defnately check out your timing since they did replace the belt....
