Default the good and the bad

First the bad: i got in an accident last tuesday. i rear ended somebody goin like 7 mph. my car went to the shop for an estimate today, and this is what they found. Need a new front bumper, hood, lip, passenger side fender needs repainting. Pop the hood, "Oh ****!" chipped paint all on the side wall. He sed something about a bent frame. so whats this gonna cost? "$4585.32"

Now the good: jdm front end will be goin on

bent frame for 7mph collision? If this is coming out of YOUR insurance(which is usually the case for people that run into the back of someone else), I would get a second opinion. Sounds like an awful lot of damage for that speed. I ram my beater(civic hatch) into **** going that fast and it bearly pushes in the bumper.

I hope it isn't a bent frame. Sorry to hear about your accident.

I recently f'ed up my rear bumper (cracked), driver's rear tail light, impact bar/reinforcement and quarter panel. Amazing how much labor/paint costs.... I had over $5K in repair costs. :sigh:

How did you get that much damage at 7mph?

it mightve been the angle that i hit the other car at. i tried to swerve to avoid it but it mightve ended up causin more damage. i hit the other guy at about a 20 degree angle. so the passenger side hit first and was probly pushed in a little

still shouldnt be THAT bad. Is this claim going against your insurance? Definitely get another opinion, and if its IS going against your insurance, you might want to try to pay for it yourself. Your going to have to pay the deductible anyway, even though you get that back. You dont want accident records(with you at fault) on your insurance. Just somethin to think about.

doesn't take much to slightly bend the frame ends where the bumpers meet the fenders.

7mph can do that easily. it's not a huge job to fix and as long as the shop has a good frame guy they can realign to factory specs without a problem.

typerpino, let me know. i still have that jdm front.

7mph!? That is nuts from that...what kind of car did you hit? That sounds like too much damage from going that speed.

Take a look at the estimate. What is cosing so much? Labor? If you read some of the details of the work to be done it might give us/you some insight into what exactly happened, damagewise.

I agree with everyone - get a few other opinions.

1. What parts does that include??

2. What labor? (i.e., welding, etc)

3. What are they painting for that amount?

4. Any details about 'Frame Labor'?

The $$ for parts seems VERY high in comparison to the parts/paint labor.

1. hood, front bumper, lip, rad support, pass. side fender
2. labor im guessing is mainly installation
3. the parts in #1
4. "frame labor" is the work they need to do to straighten my frame. cause when they popped the hood the paint on the side wall was chipped and cracked.
