Leather Seats Cracking on my Type S! Covered under Warranty?
I purchased my Type S has about 1 year ago, and it has 26K miles on it. The driver side left bolster is cracking! It has some deep cracks and the leather is flaking off. It looks like a piece of leather left in the Arizona sun.
About 6 months ago, I used some reputable leather cleaner/balm on the seats as they were getting a little dirty. It's the same stuff I use on a very sweet leather jacket, with no ill effects.
Anyone else seeing this type of wear? What do you think are my chances of filing a warranty claim with Acura?

Common problem with the TL/CL.
A friend of mine who is a tech at a local dealership replaces them frequently. It should be covered, and if they balk at replacing it raise hell or go to another dealership.
On the TL/CL the bolster area is actually vinyl, not leather, and this is where the problems typically occur. Sounds like they did the same thing with the RSX seats.

Leather seats are covered from cracking, etc for up to 60k. I had my front drivers side side section replaced as it had showed minor cracking.
Wear & tear item not covered by warranty...I'd be very surprised if they covered it.
People on CRSX have had this covered under warrenty. Probably a dealer to dealer thing, one may one wont. Ask and see.

my sister 03 RSX leather started cracking a few months after she purchased it.. the funny thing is.. it happened to her passenger side, where nobody ever sits because shes tight about giving rides to people..
anywho.. I told her to complain to the dealership and they decided to replace/recover her leather seats...under warrenty
this was their explaination who came from the service manager
"it must of been a bad batch of leather..."

I'm covered by warranty. It was an option they gave me when i purchased the car. Full warranty in the interior from spills to cracks. I just hope the live up to it. I'm probably going to take mines in soon.
I figured the cracks on the sides came from people brushin up against the seat when entering and leaving the car. To avoid any future cracks and fades on my seats im going to start putting my passenger farther back so no one brushes up against it

My friend had his front seat covers replaced and his car was 2 years old at the time with 30K miles on it. I think that if the car is under warranty, it is just unacceptable that this is happening. Mine are still in decent shape because I use conditioner.
