hey i am looking into getting a street/strip 59300 camshaft and cam gear for my sohc vtec civic, however i dont know everything i need to run it to 8000 rpm(it gets power till 7800) so i can make the most of this mod.
is the matching zex valve springs all i need? or do i need new retainers too and an ecu chip?

You don't need the retainers, your stocks are fine. If you get the retainers they can wear out.

But, yes, you need the ECU chipped and new springs.
Well actually you don't need the ECU chipped you just need the rev limiter removed.
