does having vtec really make a big difference or not?
i have a 8V CX now and im gonna swap the head and some little stuff but i have 2 extra heads. one is a DX i believe from a 96 or 97 civic (16V non vtec) and the other is an EX from a 96 or 9 7 ( 16V Vtec) .. but the EX head has no valves.. i tried to take them out of the DX head but i couldnt even get one out cause they are hard to take out.. so i was thinkin of just stickin the DX head on my block and just runnin that. it will be a little better than just 8 V anyway.. but id like to run the Vtec head but does the Vtec really do alot to make me go through all the trouble of taking valves and stuff out or not?

well vtec is like having a nice cam with out having the crap *** gas mailage of that nice caqme when your not romping on the car. whne your just driving around your useing the milder cam lobes. and when you hit vtec you use the nice er more agressive cam lobes. daul over head cam v tec feel vtec more came they will get vtec on both exhaust and intake sides. aposed to single over head cam only hitting v tec on the intake side
This is how to find out what a VTEC is Free of charge

Go to Local Dealer Test Drive a Car floor it at the light (don't get Pulled over) keep it floored till you reach 4th Gear
Drive back to the lot and tell him you only wanted to see What VTEC felt like Don't tell him before test drive
That extra pull you felt around 4800 to 5800 RPMs (Depends on the Car) That pull my friend was not hidden 25 Shot of NOS but VTEC

I drove my first b16 hb the other day and vtec to 8,200 rpm redline feels like it is an entirly different engine. I should probably drive more cars but I was lovin the sound!
b series
yes vtec is a huge diffrence.
d series
not MUCH but over your CX engine, yes it will be very noticable.
