My friend is putting a 99 Si front end on his 89 hatch (I think its something to barf over, but whatever you wanna do to your own car is your choice). The 99 si hood bolts right up but you have to do some pounding to the car and the hood to get it to close completely, other than that, the width is fine. the fenders he opted to use the stock fenders, and just modify them to fit the headlights (using a cutter to cut off what needed to be cut off) and is going to weld a custom bumper mount to mount his bumper. In the end he'll need to go to a body shop anyways to get a piece of metal welded onto the corners of where the corner lights are in the fender and get the whole car painted yellow (*barfs all over my keyboard*). Hes just trying to do most of the work himself to minimize the cost... I guess it'll look ok when hes done...even though really i hate those types of conversions...
