Default I cant decide: 14" Steelies Roar or Rotational weight owns you?!?

My LS came with 14" steelies and i upgraded to 16" wheels a few months later... two seasons later, i picked up a pair of 95 GSRs figuring i'd run them for the winter.

I've gotten the DYI bug to paint them Gunmetal Grey and decided to roll the original 14"s back.

Just before, i made a run to the border at the local TAco Bell for a quick dinner and the car felt quicker than it did on 15"s. If this is the case, I might keep the steelies on even after the winter :D Does rotational weight really make that much of a difference?

My car is white so the black wheels dont really look so bad in my opinion. I could always put those acura hubcaps on again if necessary.
Any one else drive around in 14"s or steelies?

I think that smaller diameter wheels have a bit better acceleration, but not sure if it would make that much of a difference. Maybe it's all in your head.

i did something similar. My Ls came with the dealer option 14' alloys, usually found on Del sols. I put on a friends 17"s that he was selling and noticed an immidiate difference in acceleration. Rotational mass definatly is an important factor in how fast.........or rather how much effort it takes your engine to turn a wheel.

steelies may be smaller, but are usually pretty heavy. GSR's are pretty light. I say go GSR because 14's look too small, and black steelies look rice.

try doing 90 with those 17s on.

Well the 14x5" steelies off my 89 Camry weighed in at about 22 lbs each (no tires), and the 15" GS-R wheels weigh about 15.5 lbs or so. I'm pretty sure the 15's will be better.

The odd thing is, i get a wierd vibration from the front drivers wheel. I wonder if the wheel needs balancing. I'll do a swap later to see because i dont get this vibration running the other rims i have.

oh well.. the 14's are the most comfortable cruising around town.
