car over heating...
car was overheating and the fan was on...i turned off the car and later started the car again...car began to overheat again but this time the fan doesn't kick on...whats the problem here?
1st step...check the radiator cap and all seals upon said cap - if seals are bad, car will overheat.
2nd step...further describe circumstances so that we can get a better idea of why this is happening.
3rd step...SEARCH and see if you can find help.

It could possibly be your head gasket. Check your coolant reservoir and if there is black oil residue in it, then you will need to get your head gasket replaced. Also, does your car's exhaust look white/blue. This is another indication of a blown head gasket. It cost me about $500 to get this replaced at the dealer.
