Default 90 Accord 4 Door H22 Problem......

I have a 1990 Honda Accord Lx with JDM H22.
I put it away for the winter, and this weekend I went to take it out for a quick little spin.
For some reason my VTEC wasnt working.
What are the first tghings I check to confirm my problem.
Also, PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO POST PICS, ITS KILLING ME!!!!!!!

Thanks

did you let the car warm up? for vtec to work, the car has to build up enough oil pressure i believe. i know for a fact that vtec wont work unless the car is warmed up though. hope this helps

I have gotten in my car started it and pulled out of the driveway. I put the throttle down and I hit vtec. No warm up was necessary. The car should have high enough pressure after the car has been running a few seconds. This was on a 94 Accord EX though. Not sure if it's the same on an H22a. Could it be the vtec solenoid sticking perhaps? Was the oil level full?

Stew, It is most likely that you can roll into VTEC before warm-up because you have a VAFC. If he doesn't the car will have to warm up first.

Also, AccordVtec Is your engine stock?

Aha I see. Is this bad for the engine to get into vtec before it's fully warmed? This was a warm summer day keep in mind.

Honestly, I would wait until the car is up to operating temp (or close to it) before going into VTEC. Honda put that safeguard into their ECU programming and the addition of VTEC controllers bypasses the ECU in the VTEC engagement function.

The cam lobes won't switch when coolant/cylinder head/engine is cold or when oil pressure is less than ~30 PSI. If there's anything wrong with the VTEC solenoid or signal wire, it should throw a CEL.
