I put the stock tails back on today. To ensure no leakage I doubled up on the gaskets and tightened the living S#$T! out of them. So hopefully they wont leak. Let me know what you think.Why doesnt anyone like altezzas anyway?

altezza's lights arent quality material....plus look ugly...... Lexus IS300 will be the only car that will look right on it.....

 

I really just think its a played look that really looks ugly after awhile. At first I thought they didn't look that bad, but after awhile its just kinda turns ugly on you. Plus its what, $250 or so you could be spending on performance?

I'd also remove the red Acura tag but that isn't as bad.

 

Im gonna also shave the emblems on the front and rear but im waiting to get a oem bumper cover. Its on the way. My bumper has huge holes where the license plate would screw into. The guy I bought the car from had his license plate rusted in there so I had to gouge out the plate and messed it all up. Also he had a bra on the front of the car and totally messed up the paint on the bumper. Its all faded and scratched. So when I get the new bumper, Im gonna shave all emblems, get the bumper put on with a type r lip. It shuold look real nice and clean. Thanks.

 

Honestly you shouldnt do something soley based on an opinion, especially other peoples. If you liked the look by all means stick with it.

I didn't like altezzas in the first place. I thought my stock lenses were defective or something. Since I painted them all red ( they were formerly with the amber lens) I really wanted them, but they leaked so I bought altezzas. It never occurred to me to thicken the gasket. Anyway when Im ready to sell the car it will be easier to sell if the car looks stock. Thats why I got rid of my exhaust.

there is only one pair of altezzas that agree with me and they are on my car, but i too and going back to stock soon. the altezzas that i like the best are the three signal carbon fiber ones. they don't have an overly large signal just right and recessed intothe lense a lil. the only drawback is the carbon fiber isn't carbon fiber it is just a painted pattern. but they look sweet. if i wanted to make my car all rice i would match those tails with smoke/black turn signals and a carbon fiber hood by vis. it would attract a lot of attention but man that would look sweet on the milano red car with dark dark bronze tint and bronze heliums. who knows maybe i'll just go for rice instead. i have to get the hood repainted anyway.

I agree with you, some of the things arent bad looking at all. I know when altezza's first came out, it was one who thought "who would like these things" but surely, it grew on me. I think when they refer to rice, its mainly when people get tacky and overdo it.

but to each their own. I personally like the stock taillights and kept mine. I only wish the water did collect so much inside.

 

jsut replace the foam seals, if that doesn't work, pull the tailights out of th ecar on a sunny day, throw them inthe oven on 200 for an hour and then pull them apart. let em cool and then resealthem with clear silicone. then you should be good to go, messy but effective

I used to like Altezzas also a while ago. They eventually began to disgust me like every other person I guess. It's just the fact that every single person seemed to have them, and the category of people that had them weren't exactly the kind of people I'd of wanted to be categorized with.

any forms of altezza's look like dogshit on most cars especially honda's. they're cheap looking and completely spoil the look of the car...better said "ricey" the only car that looks decent with them is the IS300.

no that is what i am doing next year this year is all about the motor and tranny. if i can afford it i'll do the tint this year and tehn the 16"s next year . that setup i was talking about was what i would do if i had a lot of money right now. if i do that though i have to paint my grillcraft bronze as well and stick with stock tails and turn signals so i son't have to worry about the color co-ordiantion of it all

 

that carbon fiber one reminds me of S2000 tail light.

 

I think it looks better stock... I still have my stock tail lights on my car and I like the way they look..no need to change them...

 

never had an altezza tails but I have had a bodykit and removed them after 6 months. Now my car is back to stock. I sure lost some money on that.
