Drove the Arr for the first time in 6 weeks....
Today was a decent, sunny, dry day. The Arr has been in the garage for about 6 weeks now. I've been super busy at work and what free time I have had has been spent working on the hatchcrap.
After installing lots of Mugen goodies (intake, Gymkhana header, seats, pedals, oil cap, steering wheel, strut tower bars) and the titanium axle back exhaust I never really took the car out for a good drive. Oh, I also decided to try out a JDM ECU... no more check engine light from the test pipe
, however it does have a speed limiter
Since the conditions where good, and I wasn't working, I thought I take her out on my favorite twisty country back roads. It was about 20 degrees outside - good for the intake, bad for my crappy tires.
I went buzzing around town to warm it up - I had to get stuff for my dog to chew on and a movie to watch tonight - Minority Report. Just outside of town I opened it up. The combination of the cool air and ECU were great. Unlike before, it pulled nice and hard all the way up to redline.
The Ti exhaust and test pipe are loud, but it sounds awesome at 8000rpm
It felt good to accelerate, stomp the brakes, and turn hard enough to get the rear end to rotate..... It's amazing what a 20minute drive will do for your spirits. Back to the garage for another 8 weeks at least
I can't wait for expo.
Ausmith - who is alive and who is happy he drove his arr today

I did the same because of our wonderful Northeast weather so I been keep driving daily beater. R felt great but hardest for me in slow lauch compare to nice summer day because of wheel hops. I am afraid of blowing shocks since tires don't sticks now.
I take mine out at least 3 times a week even during the winter. I have had the car for nearly three years and it never ceases to get me excited. Of the 56,000 miles I’ve traveled, at least 20,000 of those miles have been from driving excursions with no particular destination.
During the summer I'll go out for an evening drive 5 days out of 7 and just circle the city on my usual habitual path. I doubt there are more sever driving addicts out there.
Oh, how I desire to take her out on the expressway and just stand on the gas and exceed 120 mph. Ever since my last few tickets I CAN NOT drive fast on the streets otherwise the unthinkable would happen. Driving 100 mph+ (where safe) is/was like a drug for me. Not just short jaunts to that speed but steady high speed cruising is, dare I say, intoxicating. Applying increased pressure to the gas pedal works almost like a directly linked switch to the body, inducing adrenalin into the system. Who needs drugs if you have a Type R and a full tank of petrol?
Reaching 4,000 RPM (yes, even before VTEC) in 5th on the highway is where the motor starts feeling good. Going faster in this car is never a let down because of the progressive power. Maybe I’ll need to take a road trip to the salt flats this summer.

How is the Gymkhana header? I've been wondering how it performs, but I've never read of anyone using one. It certainly looks great. what's the flange diameter? 2.25?
I drove my R for 5 minutes the other day after being in storage for about a month and it was very intoxicating. Especially since I got to try my new J's racing intake

Hi Clayton! I drove mine for the last time (until April) on Tuesday.
That engine shot looks almost identical to my buddies '98 CW and he has #50. The only diff is the Mugen STB, he still has the OEM one. Looks good
