Default Quick ZC question

The DOHC zc That we are dropping in a friends 89 crx arrived. It has the stock engine wiring harness. We were ready to convert his SI harness over (2 dist wires) but after looking at the ZC harness it looks exactly the same. The plug-ins that conect to the rest of the car (3 by the fuse block and the 2 plugs on the drivers side) look identical. Could you just use the stock zc harness in a crx without any problems? Thanks

Call me crazy but I don't think you can. Something to do with the wiring harness being flipped around for right hand drive cars ( if i remember correctly)
but hey if you take them both off, compare them and they're exactly the same, I don't see why not

I had to convert my harness. The 2 wires on the distributer go to the exhaust cam. I just cut those two wires out of the distributer harness and extended them to the cam.

The engine came out of a 1989 JDM CRX. the plug-ins are in the same place. they aren't switched side to side. The zc wiring is still on the motor. They disconnected it at the fuse box and the 2 plugs by the resinator. I looked at the wires at each plug and they seen to be the same color. Someone must have bought a ZC with ths stock engine harness still on it?

the harness that the zc had in japan would make the plugs be on opposite sides, so, if they arent, i guess the only real possibility would be that somebody else installed it in a usdm or right hand drive car with a different wiring harness. so as long as those plugs are the same, you shouldnt have to switch the harness, though if you do, its not hard at all, jus reloacating two wires off the dist. plug to the cam position sensor on the exhaust cam.

ok I'll take pic's of it. It appears to be a factory harness. there are no splice's in it anywhere. and it is set-up for a LHD car. Are there any other countries that had lefthand drive with a ZC? seems odd. I'll get pic's up in a few

here are 2 guesses from me...

1. someone put a d16a1 (86-89 teg) harness on the car. now i don't know if that harness would even work in an EF.

2. someone got ahold of a UK ZC (its called a d16a8 or 9 or something over there) harness and put it on the car.

there are pure guesses and both answers could be wrong.

ok does anybody have any pic's of a stock ZC JDM crx engine bay? is this for certain that the wiring is switched around and not the ecu wiring different? E.G. alittle longer and runs over to the other side on a JDM crx. The wiring looks like it came with the motor. I have looked over every connects and there are no obvious sign's of tha harness every being changed. all of the color codes are the same compared to the USDM harness. it looke the same except for the wiring that runs to the exhaust cam. Any other Ideas

I know this is of almost no help, but the harness that came on my ZC was cut, but was without a doubt the same as yours. The wires that would go to the big plugs were on the trans side. I'd also like to see a ZC engine bay from japan.
