Default Pirelli PZero Assimetrico?

They are only $50 in 195/50 on tirerack.com. 140 treadwear and seem to have pretty good grip. Since these are so cheap would they be good as a time trial tire for a beginner with little money? I have two sets of rims and was thinking of running them on the track and keeping my SO-3's for the street. Any opinions?

those arent cheap for 15" rubbers. given the tread wear dont expect more than about 5000 miles from them.

Then what is cheap for 15" tires? I thought my SO-3's were a steal for $79 each.

cheap is a tire that grips well, and lasts a long time, which your pzeros probably wont

i think the stock re010's have a longer life time than 125.

Yeah but RE010's are almost $150 for EACH tire.

yeah, trade off is a bitch.

heck i wouldnt know what i'd do in your position, as you need to factor in the installation of the tires on the wheels a cost to consider as well.

I might just stick with my SO-3's which kick major butt for a street tire.

ActiveAero, the Pirelli's are great tires but there are other similiar costing alternatives out there like your S03's. Those Pirelli's are often found on the later Jaguar's. They are putting down anywhere from 10000-13000 miles

For the money, Id get S03's. Why are alot of ITR's running 195-50-15? Isnt that too small for the car?

Not unless you are riding around with 4 people taking corners hard. They also feel less sloppy than 205's and raise the final drive slightly. I've been through 3 sets of 195/50 SO-3's so far with no problems. 10,000-13,000mi is all I get out of my SO-3's anyway. I'm fixing to be on my 6th set of tires in only 55,000mi with no track events.

Worthless statement. It depends what you use them for. 5000 miles on track days, sure, but solely on the street, you'll see 20,000 miles or more with proper rotation.

I posted this when I got my PZeros from Tire Rack back in October. Tire Rack won't sell them to you if you say they are used for the R.

Yeah I already know this thats why I call in and order 4 tires for my kid's (which I don't have) tire swing.

By the way I will still use my SO-3's on the street. I just wanted a decent peforming track tire that I can learn on and won't cost me a fortune to replace.

are you on crack? how about not talking out of your *** prior to stating you'd get 20k + miles with 125 treadwear tires....

140 treadwear, Einstein. Ask Josh (itrsport.com) about his PZeros. Thank you, come again.

EDIT: Doh! Thinking about RE010s. Point being, PZeros have a higher treadwear so the wear is very similar.

According to Tirerack, the PZeros have a treadwear of 140, and the RE010s have a treadwear of 120.

Load rating isn't what a 195/55 or 205/50 is.

Load rating on 195-55-15 are normally 89H or 89V or 89W

The Number is the LOAD rating. The Letter is the SPEED Rating.

Soup ****, I will admit, you are ABSOLUTELY INCORRECT. Treadwear does not JUSTIFY its longivity. Its a common belief that it is, but its a common stupid misunderstanding of tires. Treadwear only tells how SOFT the compound is. Doesnt determine life.

I have 89W rated tires and like I said, I have nearly 15K on the tires and they are at 6/32" of an inch in depth!! I can see about 30K miles on these tires!!

BrewcityR is correct, proper rotation, balance, and alignment are EXTREMELY important to saving your tires. Alot of people overlook this service.

Why is that?
Technically, the load rating of the 195-50-15 tire is not capable to with stand the weight of the ITR. The 195-50-15 is only qualified to hold so much, however doesnt mean it wont HOLD it, just means its not "certified" for it. Make sense?

The PZero's have been an excellent tire for me. I used them for about 33,000 miles and really like how the perform. I'm running 205/45/16's on my Volks. I paid a tad over $100 per tire on tirerack.

The tires experienced 6 one minute passes at a local AutoX and the rest was daily driving for me. I'll probably pick up another set in the spring.

Is it still safe to use these tires dispite the the load rating? I'm thinking of buying so3's in this size. I don't plan on tracking my car, but I do like to hit the back roads hard.
