abs in crx
i was wondering if it was possible to get ABS in my 90 crx si?
if anyone has done it before, you could let me know which parts i need, and how hard the install was?
thanks

UK SiR's were sold with ALB (ABS) but the system is not so good because it works with optical sensors rather than sensors inside the hub. I'd rather try and adapt a universal system for use with your CRX. I'm currently looking into it and Bosch (used in GM Astra/Vectra) seems to be adaptable
why?
abs isnt that special
it just lets you control your car if you lock the tires.
most of the time, it actually increases overall stopping distance.

Not in case of the moderate driver who panics in a crisis, besides if you upgrade the brakes (like me) the wheels tend to lock up quite fast and ABS will help

its going to be a huge hassle for somthing you dont need.
spend the money on an autocross or 2 (20$ a pop), then you will know how to handle the car better.

If you two of the exact same cars, one with ABS and one without; the abs equiped car would out brake it every time. That's a fact. ABS rocks!
99.9% of the drivers do panic
ABS is not worth the extra money.
I'm going into this discussion again .. ABS helps a lot under wet and slippery conditions and if you think you can outbrake a good system (f.e. BMW) than I would really like seeing you do so on the slippery brick roads in my town..
GOOD LUCK!

ok i dont know how this thread turned into a "is ABS worth it" or "controlling your car better or install ABS" thread
i just wanted to know if it was possible or if anyone had done it. i know exactly how to brake in a car with or without ABS, and i know that cars with ABS have saved me in accident-prone situations. even though i theoretically know how to brake without ABS, it doesnt always happen in real life situations.
so back to the topic - im guessing no one has put ABS in their CRX before? anyone heard of the universal adapter kits REX VT was talking about?

its a ******* 10+ year old HONDA
So what's your point? A NSX is a ******* 10+ year old Honda too
im not gonna argue with you
if you are gonna compare a 40,000$ sports car to a 2000$ civic im wasting my breath because you dont understand what im saying.
yes im a god, 100% perfect driver..
no dumbass
i just know how to control my car without ABS
it dosent take a professional racecar driver to control a car if you lock the tires
its not THAT HARD.
the majority of road racers REMOVE abs from their cars

Yes because ABS is restricted in most racingclasses
I would like to see someone out brake an abs system.bump for this post. Just bought a crx yesterday. I would like to mod the brake with gsr brakes.. Does anyone know what is required in order to have the abs work on the crx like it would work on the gsr?

abs allows you to turn in one direction or another while the wheels are locked. it unlocks them allowing you to turn. thats its origional intent. not to decrease stopping distance. get some good tires and a 4 piston caliper w/ decent pads and you'll out stop anything in a light *** car.
your comment should be state "id like to see you out handle an abs equiped car under breaking"

abs does reduced braking distance in a strait line.
The controller monitors the speed sensors at all times. It is looking for decelerations in the wheel that are out of the ordinary. Right before a wheel locks up, it will experience a rapid deceleration. If left unchecked, the wheel would stop much more quickly than any car could. It might take a car five seconds to stop from 60 mph (96.6 kph) under ideal conditions, but a wheel that locks up could stop spinning in less than a second.
The ABS controller knows that such a rapid deceleration is impossible, so it reduces the pressure to that brake until it sees an acceleration, then it increases the pressure until it sees the deceleration again. It can do this very quickly, before the tire can actually significantly change speed. The result is that the tire slows down at the same rate as the car, with the brakes keeping the tires very near the point at which they will start to lock up. This gives the system maximum braking power.
When the ABS system is in operation you will feel a pulsing in the brake pedal; this comes from the rapid opening and closing of the valves. Some ABS systems can cycle up to 15 times per second.
