Worth it to change vtec x-over point on a B18c???
Is there any benifit to changing the VTEC engagement point from 4400 to something else on a B18? has anyone else had experience with changing it to like 4900 or even a little lower than 4400?
What I mean is, does honda just set it at 4400 because it's a general setting and works pretty well, but it could be changed to get a few more ponies out of it..?
Any knowledge will help
thanks

as neo1z said if the cams are stock then you will not gain anything by raising or lowering the x-over point, in fact you will probably lose power. Honda i'm sure spend a lot of time testing to find the optimum x-over point and didnt just put it at 4400rpm for no good reason. If you change your cams for more aggressive ones then you will need to up the changing point, but until then leave it be
VTEC on a non-Type R is 4400. The secondary intake runners open at 5750.
Leave the VTEC engagement point where it is on stock cams. Messing with the VTEC system is not a good idea...Honda spent a lot of time and money making it as effecient as it is.

good lord you guys are nuts, that **** doesn do much before 5500, you just wasting fuel. i keep mine set at least 5900 sometimes higher.
Most equipment that allows you to alter the VTEC point also allows you to modify your fuel settings. While I wouldn't bother buying such equipment just to alter the VTEC crossover, tuning the VTEC point, fuel, and ignition timing on a dyno w/ a wideband O2 should net you reasonable gains.
