What shocks to get for 88 CRX with ground control's?
If it was an 89-91 I would get kyb agx's because of the price and they are adjustable, but there is no agx for an 88 (rear). That leaves me with these options:
agx in the front, and non-adjustables in the rear - ?
tokico illumina - $425 shipped
tokico hp - $260 shipped
agx non-adjustables - ?
The tokico hp shocks seem nice for the price. I dont know if its worth the extra $165 for the adjustable illumina's for just my daily driven crx (for now at least).
So can anyone suggest a good shock for an 88 CRX with ground control coilovers?
Thanks

go to the junkyard and get some 89-91 control arms then get the AGX's, or just get the illuminas. Dont mixmatch shocks front to rear.

I just read that the tokico blues you can only lower 1.5 inches safely on them... I was going to lower more then this. What are my options for shocks that are meant to go low?

koni's, really.. but i'd go with illumina's, for the "cheap" way out..
what spring rate are your GC?
with my progress springs 275/325, my HPs are on their last legs on both front shocks. only after about one year of use.

if you want a set of 89-91 rear lower control arms send me 30 bucks, and i will ship you mine
cant get a better deal than that a junk yard charges 30 a piece
other than that u can get rear AGX 's off a type R integra, and fronts for a crx,, only thing is taht u will have to lower the coilovers down a bit in the rear

get koni yellows when using ground controls. they seem to be the only shocks that can handle the higher spring rates that are available when going with ground control.
Well, I dont know how high this is, but the spring rates of my GC's are 350/250.
Is that high/low?

you are mistaken. THE AGXs WILL WORK FINE. mine came with mounting hardware and an instructions sheet on how to mount them to 88s. i remember because i just threw that stuff away. so i dont think you should have any problem.

Can the AGX's withstand a 2''+ drop?
but they are still holding up fine with GCs [and bumpstops]. the only problem ive had was losing one of the plastic ***** to adjust the shock. but i just emailed KYB and they sent me a couple new ones quick. they dont ride as nice as konis over bumps and stuff but youll be satisfied with the way they stick in the twisties

Yea I'm in the same boat with my H&R race springs, but i don't know the rate of them.
AllMotorEF9, if he doesn't buy the LCA's I want them. I'm local too, so I can pick up. sent you a pm too

Any more info on the AGX's working on an 88? I dont see why they would say 89-91 and lose 1/4 or the market.
I would consider getting the koni's, but gc's site say you need special perches for koni shocks.

GC will send you the right parts if you say you have koni yellows when you order the GC sleeves. all the "special perch" is is a metal ring pressed onto the sleeve.

I say go AGX or illuminas.
