Parents are BITCHES, please help!!
Ok, i am sick and tired of this ****! My brother had a 98 integra gsr with performance mods mainly. Somthing happened to it, and he is looking for another car. He found an amazing deal... a 1995 gsr with type r conversion lights, 18" rims, all buffed and shaved, interior dressed up, H22 motor, great paint job with 60k miles. It was a former show car. The body has 105k or so miles. All of this is for $10000. It has been test driven and is excellent driving and body condition. The parents are saying the fiberglass on the type r conversion will crack easily and isnt good when accidents happen and the insurance will charge high rates because they will know some how there is a H22 motor in there? How? Does the insurance know every type and kind of motor that is supposed to be in every car? BTW they are willing to spend $14700 on a 2001 gsr with 32k miles at a dealership.
I just could not take this **** any more please post some suggestions to convince them to get this car!

sounds like your parents are being pretty dang generous to spend 14 large on a 2001 GS-R! shoot I'd sure as hell take that over some H22-swapped fiberglass knock-off J-spec R front-ended 95 Integra.
First that car is a show car for a reason, it is fiberglass. thats the end of the story you drive that care very day and i give no more thn 5 months before something goes wrong. Trsut me i had fiberglass and i was careful, very careful, and it cracked horribly. Plus you do not know what kind of install job went into that motor swap. I would not pay for moer then 3k for that car. For ten buy a 96 gsr and get the factory kit. Also you should be greatful that your parents will help out at all.
Yes i know my parents are nice to help my brother out and all but well i dont really want to say what happened but they are not really paying anything because we got money from his gsr to pay for a new car basically. My brother doesnt like the conversion either and wanted to swap his stock front end with this car's type r front and sell the type r front. As for the swap... this car is the first on the east coast to have a h22 in an integra. My brother has driven it and it is strong. Basically my point i was trying to make was my parents are willing to spend 14k on a stock gsr when they can get an amazing gsr for 10k. Its hard to explain the entire situation in words and it would prolly take too long...owell

I have a great deal of respect for my parents and elders in general so I think it is very disrespectful for you to say/post that your parents are "bitches" (in caps) over what they want to spend their money on...
if its their money (car is under their name/insurance was under their name.. they paid for the car or to insure it....insurance payout was to them..THEY paid for and bought the car initially) its THEIR money and they have a say in what they want to buy and what they don't...
whatever happened to the previous car you or your brother should be glad and thankful that your parents are willing to pay for another car and not make you or your brother work for another car...
bottom line its their money they can do whatever they want w/ it.. and if you guys don't like what they want to do w/ their money.. then get a job and buy whatever car you like yourself...

As for the parents wanting to get the newer car (by 7 years) for 4 grand more, I can understand. The re-sale value is going to be better on the '01 than on the '95. Secondly, I agree about them being antsy about the H22 swap. True, it may be strong, but it's unproven. Just because something is the first of it's kind, doesn't mean it's great. Ever hear the saying 'You've gotta crack a few eggs to make an omelette.'? Who knows what kind of problems you may have with that changeover.
My folks are very much the same with my car. Mine is something that must last me for a while, so my father's not all that keen on many modifications. So, like a good son, I do them and don't tell him.
I can see their side of it, too. I can agree that an H22 in a 'Teg sounds pretty cool, but Hybrids bring their own problems. Parents look at "stupid" things such as reliability and longevity (BOY, STUPID things to think about when looking at a car, huh?).
However, to answer your question about the insurance company and the engine swap.... No, they usually don't know what engine is in a car. Why do you think people drop H22s and B18s into Civics? Well, insurance is a pretty big reason. The ONLY thing the insurance company is concerned with is the VIN of the car.

You would think the insurance company would have to know the car has a H22 under the hood so they could give you the right coverage. Do you think if your car gets stolen and you start telling them "I had a H22, sound system, etc" they'll be like yeah right, unless you're getting receipts for everything that was put on the car. They'll end up paying you for what a basic GS-R has.
I don't think any parent willing to dish out 14K for a car that's probably just gonna get the crap beat out of it could be called "BITCHES"
My parents never gave me one cent to buy a car, so you should consider yourself very lucky.

i work for allstate ins. and if you dont tell your insurance company about the swap then they will not know....unless it were stolen or totaled. if you got into an accident they would not find out. you would bring it to the body shop and they would fix it. and if they were to find out ? they would not charge XTRA. they would not cover it in the event something happened.
I don't suppose that I've ever mentioned to anybody that the fiberglass hood from my brother's JDM ITR front-end conversion broke loose from the skeleton and flipped over the car while driving it, and shattered the moonroof.
No hoodpins.

Damn, do you want some wine with your cheese? Call MTV to be on cast of The Real World, then your out of the house! LOL!!!! After reading your post, you need a bus pass.
Your parents really dont owe you anything, unless of course youre supporting them financially. You should learn to respect and appreciate what you have.
Can I have some cheese with your Whine?

Does the term SPOILED BRAT ring a bell for anyone? Your parents are trying to keep your brother from wasting THEIR money. You and your brother should be grateful that they just feed you and put a roof over your head.
MANUAL LABOR is not a Mexican. Get a job and pay for your own car.
