oil pressure guage installed
according to the haynes manual on the d16 you should have about 10 psi for every 1000 rpms.. at idel (roughly 800 rpms) im sittin at about 20 psi.. is this a problem or is it ok to have more oil pressure?? thanks in advance... something funny happened thing this afternoon when i was running the oil line for the guage... i was doing everything from under the car.. to get to the oil pressure sender i had to take off the oil filter.. no big deal.. well i get the main line ran up to my strut bar where i placed the "T" fitting and extended the sending unit wire a little i hoot the stock oil pressure unit into the t fitting and then run the line into the car and hook it up to the guage.. by this time it was like 7:30 pm and im all happy and stuff and being me im all happy and wanna see if it works.. so i crank the car and nothing... no oil pressure.. i press the gas just a little (to about 2000 rpms) just to see if maybe i need to get the oil to go through lines or something.. well still nothing.. and about that time it click and i was like "OH ****" and turned off the car.. look under the car and i had forgotten to put the oil filter back on.. OIL everywhere... so i had to run to pep boys and get oil and the **** to put on spills.... so my night was not thatt great.. but i got the filter back on and everythign works fine.. im just tryin to figure out if i have too much pressure..
anyways figured i would share my oil pressure guage experience.. never again.. next time it will be electronic..

whats the difference between an electronic gauge and the one youre using? does the electronic just plug into something that is already on the car?

electronic reads the pressure at the source and send wires through the firewall to the gauge.
mechanical sends oil through the firewall and the gauge reads the pressure.

I don't think it's too high. Your car might be cold... as your engine warms, you should see pressure drop a bit. The manual probably lists minimum numbers for a warm engine. Many four cylinder engines run 15-20 psi at idle... and it increases with rpm from there.

20 psi is what I have exactly when the car is warmed up. And if you would get a electrical oil pressure you would still have to do the things u did to hook it up, cause the sender needs oil. The only thing is that you dont need to run a line with oil inside the car, u run a eletrical wire instead.
how high in psi have yours gone, mine has gone over 100psi a couple of times making me wish I baught the 150psi one instead of the 100.
I have the electric and it idles at about 20-25psi and averages about 50-70psi while driving.
