My idle was is a high about 1k, its been moving. So I will adjust it
down. Before the next test

The engine is freshly rebuilt, about 7k or so ago, 1 year old cat. DC
header. I was told by a friend to maybe change the header back to stock
and move the O2 sensor closer so it warms up more.

I ran 87 Octane, and a stock ECU..

I am about due on a oil change.

O2 sensor is from 3/21/02

thermostat works, and is new, fan turns on. too..

I am a trial user so I don't know how many response posts I can make..

run premium. make sure your cap and rotor, spark plugs and wires are good.

 

yea, do a little tune-up and use that "guaranteed to smog stuff" from the local autoparts...

 

FYI, I passed with 89 octane, jdm 4-1 header (under heat shield), new plugs, and new CAT...the new CAT did it for me although mine was pretty old before I replaced it. Try replacing your O2 with a heated 4 wire O2, it also made a difference on my test. It made the car idle and run smoother.

 

Change the oil. I've heard that the oil can absorb gas on short trip driving and throw the emissions test off as the gas heats up and vaporizes.

 

dc headers are known to fail tests. don't use 91, that's a rumor, use 87 and an octane lowering fluid for ur tank. u can get it at ur local auto store. replace ur headers w/ ur stock exhaust manifold.

 

make sure u warm up ur cat too and drive for a good 15 minutes. ur cat won't work unless it's hot.

check you oil,i failed because i had too much oil,it wasnt smoking or anythinng but i gross polluted,after i changed my oil i passed

Oh and I drove the car for 20min. before my test..

So I am going to Change my Oil, Clean my EACV, get my idle down, spark plug wires, stock headers, cap and rotor.
and use that pass msog stuff.

And i have some NGK spark plug wires on the way
