Default How much do you plan on spending this year?

plan on autocrossing every possible event this year...at $25/event, and 23 events to attend...
$575 for the year.

So, i plan on spending $575 this year, in just autocross race entries. Plus, roughly $200 in brake pads (at $50
each), $360 in oil changes once a month (at $30 each...synthetic), plus brake rotors ($120, 3 sets), brake fluid
(motul 600 at $10/ea...total of 10 bottles)...

$1245 for autocrossing only for a year. This is excluding any other wear items that haven't shouted out "fix me".
Ie, clutch ($200), various sensors, wheel bearings ($40), ball joints ($35), wheel studs ($5), etc.

Plus, I plan on doing at least 9 open track events at roughly $150 each day.

$1350 for entry fees.

Plus another $100 for brake pads. Another $80 for rotors.

$1530 if everything goes as planned.

Total racing expense (minus repairs):
$2775 for 2003.

What I'll end up purchasing:
new tyres/wheels - $450 (wheels), $450 (tyres)
engine/gear box/ecu - $1150
cylinder head build-up - $2000

$6825 total.

Talk about an expensive hobby.

Talk about an expensive hobby.
I don't autocross or go to track days, hell, I barely get to drive my CRX.

I was thinking about this exact same thing. All I really want to do to my car to get it where I want it is this:

Fix sunroof - Probably $400 or so. Need to get a new panel and have it painted.
Custom exhaust - Around $350.
Seats - Reupholster for about $300.
Add GC's instead of my Neuspeeds - $300
Hope that the engine keeps going!!

Those three things right there add up to $1350. That's not a whole lot in overall terms of $$$, but when you're trying to save for a wedding, going to school, and working part time, AND you don't even drive the car every day, it seems like a whole lot of money spent on something kind of "pointless", since I don't use the CRX for racing, which I wouldn't have time for anyway, and I don't have any other friends that are into CRX's.

So I thought about putting more interest (and $ of course) into R/C cars, but when you look at that, it's even more $ for something even less useful! I still wouldn't have time for it, nobody to run it with, etc. etc.

I need to get stoked on my CRX again so I don't think about the $$$

Besides that, I think I just have too much time on my hands. I need to go back to school.

Oh, and Driven - Love the gauges. Super cool set-up. That's exactly how I want to do mine someday.

I think I'm done spending for a while. Its really draining my bank account. I'll probally start saving for a paint job and some seats. I'm happy with the engine and body overall. No more motor work for a while. I need a drivable car! This is definantley an expenisve hobby.

Perhaps I could deal blackjack and bartend to afford this "hobby"

well, on the car...

The new A6 i'm starting on soon, including the stuff i'm adding to it so I can race it and know it won't break (plus my current motor is just gettin old), about $600-$800

Roll bar, i'm gettin the hookup though a IT friend, over $200 for a custom bar

Tires thats $250 usually for me (street touring, so no race tires for me yet)

Gonna change some stuff on the suspension & brakes again (Switch to coilovers, find better pads for track use, rear trailing arm bushings) about $400-$500 maybe

As for events, I figure about 25 autocrosses at least, avg about $20 bucks per event. And i'm gonna make this the first year I try and do TWO track days. So thats about $300 actaully (varied track prices, event discounts, etc).

Add about $100 for matience since i can't really judge my oil changes.

Soooo its from $2350 up to $2650

I didn't take into account drag racing, dynos, i'm sure there is a ton more, all worth it to me though.

1.Well Im swapping in an Si motor from one of the 2 I have from my parts cars and then rebuilding the other.
2.I want to put on the rear disc and needs rotors for the rear and pads all the way around.
3.I need springs and struts.
4.Sway bar and strut bars.
5.New hood and fenders so maybe SiR front conversion??
6.Paint.
7.Misc parts needed to make turbo from Brothers Laser to work.
8.Well for the motor thigns like plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and other misc parts timing belt water pump...blah blah....
Hmmm I think that I am forgetting something or another??
OK as for a price well I have no clue?? Depends on which route I go with everything?? Probably will end up spending around $5000 on the CRX and plus need to get another car as soon as I get rid of my Z24. So well figuring I wont get too much for that and depending on what car I want probably looking at another say$1-like $10,000 on another car......
