Where does YOUR temp gauge needle usually sit?
I've been thru some overheating issues with my car, and I noticed that the temp gauge needle seems to sit higher than it used to, although it doesn't overheat anymore.
It now usually sits just a tick below horizontal, and you can barely see the top of the little curley thing at the bottom of the little symbol in there. It doesn't get up to any of the lines.
Where do yours sit?
Thanks in advance -
Alex

Like 1/3 up all the time. The thermostat isn't very accurate so there could be a 40* difference and it would sit at the same spot.
Mine use to jump all over the place, sit at 1/3, then shoot up to 3/4 I figured I had a screwy temp sensor or something. Swapped in the b16, realized my radiator went to hell and bought a Fluidyne. It sits just a tick below horizontal now, but it doesn't move no matter the weather or how I'm driving once it's warmed up.
After taking the A/C radiator out my temp gauge rarely leaves cold.
Thanks for the help. Keep it coming!

Mine sits a tad below horizontal. As for the A/C "Radiator" I am almost positive that any Honda with A/C has the second one which I believe is the A/C drier or condensor?? Not sure I get some of the componets of the system confused so anyone that knows if thats what it called or what it is actually called that would be nice to know??....

My Si has the second a/c one, I'm going to be working on another 91' CRX Si tonight, I'll tell you if it has it. I'll have two complete A/C systems if anyone needs parts.
my former integra and my civic both sit just a tick below horizontal once it warms up, no matter the weather conditions. (both had AC if it matters)
Mine usually sits about 2~3 ticks below horizontal. I'm running an integra rad. w/ redline water wetter, antifreeze and water. Engine is a ZC.

just under half is the max its ever gone. in the winter its about 1/4 up and on really cold days its off the scale (on the cold end of course). i also block half the radiator with cardboard or it'd never get close to operating temp.
Mines usually here:
But thank you for the very professional and clear illustration
Oh, and mine's never any different depending on weather. Cold, hot, whatever - always the same. But the only time the fans have come on recently were today, one of the hotter days this winter.
Thanks for all the replies. I knew I could count on you guys!!

Okay, now I know my car has a separate fan for the A/C but I did NOT know there is a separate radiator. My Si just has a single radiator that goes all the way across the front of the car. Is this second rad on all CRX/EF or just certain ones, like maybe only DX or HF or something?
Thanks for the help. Keep it coming!

It has to have it.. it's called a condensor.
My CRX is at another location, so I can't go outside and look...otherwise I would.
Thanks again!
Alex
the condensor is usually in front of the radiator, you'll see it through the 'grill' in front (if you have A/C that is) looks like another radiator
and my temp gauge is a tad below half(horizontal) just like in that awesome picture posted above

during the summer, it usually sat a tick below the middle.
but now in the colder weather, if i warm the car up and dont move it, it gets to about 2 ticks below middle. then when i start driving, it will get colder! sometimes even below C. then when i stop moving it goes back up...
anyone have any idea what this could be? during the summer it was a constant temp.
