How to install a camshaft????

Default How to install a camshaft????

do i need professional installation of a cam if i get one? or can i do it myself???? i mean i can do it if its drop in without any heavy tuning required...thanks people

I assume you're referring to your SOHC with the ZEX cam. Refer to your repair manual if you have one. If not, I'll give you a general idea.

1. Loosen the t-belt tensioner and slide off the timing belt from cam sprocket, or remove the belt and replace with a new one later.

2.Break loose each cam main to evenly release stress on the cam.

3. Remove rocker assembly, etc.

4. Remove cam sprocket from cam

5. Put cam gear on new cam

6. Lube up cam with cam lube or assembly lube

7. Replace all parts.

Now obviously there is a lot more involved, but it's a paint writing details if the need not really be. A repair manual will show steps and give torque specs as well. Anybody here should be able to help out if you're into trouble, I know I will.
