Balancing weights inside wheel?
I was at Costco today to get my tires rotated and rebalanced (free lifetime service with tire purchase) and I asked them if they could not use the hammer on clip weights on the outside of the wheel and rather just use the inside weights. One of the service reps told me he didn't think the interior weights could clear my front caliper so they wouldn't do it.
Do any of you guys get your tires balanced on the inside with stock wheels? I'm wondering if I should just try other places. I'm sick of those outside weights always taking chunks out of my wheel and I am afraid I may be disqualified on tech inspection because I've heard of some racing clubs not allowing them. Any experiences with this?

It will fit. I hate costco cause they used the regular weights and it chipped my rims big time!
Never again will I go there. They also popped my hood and started looking at my bling! MORONS!
I will only go there for beater rims or something

Damn those bitches. I don't know if it was the way my stock weights were put or the way they took them off but I have chunks missing where the weights used to be. Now I'm afraid what's going to happen when someone tries to take off the ones Costco put on. I guess they are good for buying tires but install I will now take them elsewhere.
Dennis you recommend anyone around here?

It was expensive but America's tire treats me RIGHT every single time.
I think it was $60 with lifetime balancing(extra $5 or so) compared to $20-30 at Costco though.
I usually get them to mount the tires on the rim and I go home and install on my own but I'm sure they don't charge that much.
I had huge chunks off my stock rims too
At least they didn't start going bonkers over your car.
I felt violated man.

Yes, absolutely.

I've always balanced both the inside and outside of the wheel. you buy adhesive weights (I'd just buy a set of them and let them use those).

Dont blame the guys for being precautionary.
I had my guys up at my work balance my wheels. It turns out that it is IMPOSSIBLE to use tape weights inconjunction with NSX calipers. The NSX calipers have those heat sinks sticking out from. When I drove my car, the tape weights were grazing the calipers. I had to take them back off.
If the Tire Techs know what they are doing, they can change the "STATUS" on the balancing machine to a different alloy. They can tape on the weights toward the center section (circumferal) of the wheel.
