It seems to me that we should look into putting together a FAQ on the HT homepage. This subject has been brought up before and I think we should definetely try to put it into practice. Everybody seems really tired of newbies asking how to post pics, and why they're only allowed 5 posts/day, etc. And personally, I am tired of seeing all of the newbie bashing just b/c they have no idea on how to use this site correctly. And if it's not possible to put it on the homepage, maybe we could have it "stuck" at the top of all the topics, like the forum rules are. I really think this is a good idea and it will make it a LOT easier for everyone here. Lets here everyone's thoughts on this and see if it is at all possible to implement. Thx for your time.

that would be a good idea. If the newbs would read the guidelines and such, there would be a lot less of it going on. People don't like to observe or see how things are done, they're too quick to jump in and ask/post away. a FAQ thread would be nice. But only the serious newbies would read it

Not only should there definetely be a FAQ for newbies, but the information should be compiled in the most correct form possible. There is quite a bit of false information that gets passed around and the FAQ would also help to solve this problem. As one can see by my number of posts, I constantly search rather than just posting questions.

its a good idea, but as stated above, only the serious newbies would read it, and those are the ones we dont normally have to get mad at. and i like your sig, dark halo.

 

i think it should be something that noobs have to read and if they mess up...some type of negative action will be taken....it should say NOOBS please read CAREFULLY!! use the search function...it is your best friend...if you cant find anything under search and CIRCUITsi finds something under search you will be a trial user for 100 days or something cool like that

put it on like how to install, different swaps what u need ,
how to wire harness up correctly to your motor ,
and etc

We all know that newbies don't search, so why would they go read the FAQ page when they could just make a post about it?

 

I have seen some "OG" post asking questions for **** i know is on other post. I really think the "rip on noobs" is what is keeping this site from being a 5 star website. People need to think back to what their mothers always said. IF YOU DONT HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY, then shut that phucking pie hole.

FAQ is a very good idea.. just make it as part of the title of the page in a different color so newbs can def read it BEFORE posting to all of us.. personally, i help the kids.. i was a noob, and i was oWnEd a couple of times before some-body helped me out. i was on IM for like half an hour the other day tellin a NooB things.. at least he knew how to IM

 

Thats what I was thinking. I will talk to a mod and see if this is at all possible. I really think this will help the site out a lot. I mean, it's not going to hurt anything to have a FAQ section that contains helpful info to new members (so that they can use the site properly and not get flamed for not knowing how to do something), and then have some basic/general info for each model forum. Not anything in a lot of detail, just some general information that will reduce the number of Frequently Asked Questions! i.e. "What does eg/ek/ej/etc mean?", "What is the difference between B18c1 and B18c5?", "How much does my car weigh?", and so on and so forth. It should also contain specs on different cars/engines.

I've always thought a FAQ would be a great idea, but more towards being a technical knowledge base than just a page of a couple common questions. I strongly disagree about placing sanctions on people who dont read it tho. Just being able to shorten the reply to "it's in the faq" for everyone who already knows it would be enough.

If the admins dont want to put one up I might consider hosting it in some of my webspace if you guys want to put one up

 

I think Its the Best Idea with it also a frently Asked Topic like "How To" will also be great cause some posts are hard to find and if found the list is so long that it takes hours to go through reading them one by one to lokk for "Hidden word" these are iteams that are not related to the asked question topic but finds its way in there
